I love the F50 GT. The specific wheels looks a little bit weird..but the car looks great! Glad that the owner uses it.

Me too and I expect no less from a motorsport enthusiast like Sam.

Anyway, here's another picture of this stunner:

he should give it a racing driver and see what kind of lap times it'll produce

He only revealed the lap times of his unrestricted 458 GTEs (2.03.335 at Yas Marina, 1.53.195 at Bahrain). The video of the F50 GT around Yas should be here soon but I doubt we'll get a lap time. However, his claims (There's no better race car & Feels more like a LMP than a GT car) tells us it's pretty quick.

Times would be interesting indeed. The only commentary I have ever seen in regards to lap times for the F50 GT appeared in Forza magazine regarding chassis 003 at Willow Springs Raceway. It was recently recapped in the auction description for prior owner, Jim Spiro's, former black F50 road car:

"At the same time, Jim was also taking delivery of his Ferrari F50 GT1 and hired professional race car driver Didier Theys to test both cars. Forza, the international Ferrari magazine was invited to attend this pre-delivery test day and reported on the event in their April 1999 edition of its magazine. The car is pictured with two- time Le Mans 24 Hours winner, Didier Theys driving it at the event. Jim Spiro commented on the day "I had no idea how fast, and how smoothly, a car could be driven until I sat in the F50 and watched Didier Theys at speed. The torque and smoothness of that 4.9-liter engine is incredible". It was also noted during the day that the F50 GT1 was only two seconds a lap faster than the black road-going F50, further confirming the outright speed of the road-going F1 inspired car."

The main track at Willow Springs is a 2.5 mile, 9-turn road course and I would really expect more than just a two second advantage for the GT. It benefits from racing slicks, greater downforce, more power, enhancements to the suspension and less weight. Would love to see a rematch arranged by Sam.

Definitely, and there is a quote in the auction description about a 4.9 litre engine.....never heard of anything other than 4.7 before.

I am guessing attention to detail wasn't the order of that day

Wow that's amazing. I wonder if Mr. Li decided to make a few upgrades to the engine or if he left it stock at about 750 horses. Guess we'll never know..

That's his style. Lots of editing and music (even if I didn't expect the big typo "FERARRI")

About the wheel, as @Triflux pointed out above, yeah It's definitely a modern GT wheel with paddles.

From what I've read #01 was the test car built by the F1 department. Not sure about how the other two came to be and I know even less about the potential chassis/engine/etc. differences between each model. Would love to have more informations.

I wonder if the Ferrari F150 Laboratory (known as the LMP1 project in 2014) with hybrid engine and 17 years of evolution in tires and aerodynamics beat these lap times of the F50 GT.
