Major accident history and over 50k miles at that price seems ridiculous to me. If people don't think there is an asset bubble at the moment I don't know what else to tell them...

If that x-axis really is RPM then I'd say no it's not accurate. A dyno graph with RPM on the x-axis and torque and horsepower on the Y-axis should have the two lines intersect at 5,252 rpm.

Edit: The scale of the torque curve is probably off making it like that, but typically the two should intersect at 5,252.

I think it's fairly priced and represents an opportunity, the estimate is a million dollar discount off what we currently trade lower-mileage no-stories examples for.

I definitely understand where you're coming from. It's rare being black and there are none I'm aware of with over 50k mile and a new engine. It's hard to price given that specific history, but I have a hard time seeing anyone buying this outside of a dealer hoping to flip it to someone else for a quick buck.

There have also been a couple 458 Speciales for sale with pretty bad salvage history and rebuilt offered at huge discounts, but no sales for eternity (210943 and 207022). I have a hard time seeing an individual private buyer forking over that much money for an F50 let alone Speciale knowing the accident history. Street cars, particularly limited editions, seem to be held to an incredibly high standard by Fcar buyers.

If someone can afford to spend that kind of money ($265k Speciale or $1.5m F50) on a car that is not their primary or secondary car...they can afford to pay the premium for a no-story car. I'm curious if the buyer ends up being a dealer.

Typically, it seems that cars with salvage history (struggle to) bring half of what a comparable no-stories car would bring.

Not only does this black F50 have major accident history, but also an engine replacement and possibly the highest mileage of any F50.

Half the going rate seems optimistic, but you never know what will happen at an auction. The F50 market is pretty tight right now and being a rare black car could get someone excited... We'll soon see.

This'll likely be bought by an enthusiast who will drive it.

I hope you're saying that because you've spoken with a prospective buyer. That would be excellent news! It would be way better than it moving among different dealers or tucked away in a garage forever. Hope you're right. :)

Can you provide actual examples, as I have never ever seen any complete and running supercar with a back story sell for half the going rate of a equivalent non stories example, maybe 20% or so under but never half.

This Enzo with 1,400 miles and a major accident in it's history high bid to just over US$1.4mm. In 2016, comparable Enzos with clean history were selling for basically double (high $2s). I understand Joe was involved in a transaction around that period with a very similar car that corroborates my hypothesis. :)

There was another F50 with accident history on the market within the last two years that was available for roughly 1/2 of the going rate, but I don't have any links to that one.

I've been involved with the sale of several Enzos that corroborate your hypotheses, that said, auctions can always surprise as their outcome is subject to a lot of factors.

Does the chandelier get to bid this time since 104799 is being offered without Reserve?

My crystal ball says the chandelier will be bidding early, often and right up to $1.4M.

A friend of mine (and prominent collector) mentioned a yellow F50 in NJ. I may have misunderstood but could be the same owner as the GT.

Yeah - I'd almost call that a bargain for #104799 at $1.155 w/premium. New owner should be pleased as they got themselves a definite driver F50 which is what they are often hailed for being great at.

Wonder if anyone made any money? Fair guess that Bonhams did...

Is it a private buyer or dealer? I hope the former so it actually gets driven.

Agree, if I had the money and wanted a driver, these examples would be on my horizon rather than the low miles garage queens, unless of course I could afford to own both :)

I wonder if it would have fared better going to auction in Europe, rather than here in the US where the severity of its accident was well documented.
