The difference being that people who buy cars and keep them hidden away, the so called garage queens, usually do it for a financial profit. It seems almost cold hearted from a car nuts' point of view - like they could just as well be buying real estate, art or investing in stock. The Brunei collection is altogether different - which one of us wouldn't want to go on a spending spree at Pininfarina, Dauer, McLaren etc? Yes, they obviously got carried away with it, given a lot of the cars haven't even turned a wheel, but it's the equivalent of automotive enthusiast's wet dream, while the garage queen scenario is almost the opposite - pure torture knowing you've got a treasure, but can't use it because of value loss.

It all depends on what you call art?
    I consider Ferraris art.

No. I think it's just a guy who used to work at the garages back in the Eighties/Nineties...

Interesting photos. Worth posting them in the 288 thread in the supercars forum, here!

is it a real 288 GTO? looks similar to one Norwoods had for years with twin turbos and not sure ever finished by them.

This strip down pic proves that all were RED from the over spray on the firewall. Very cool pic!

Norwood still has that black one. It has a custom v12 block with Testarossa heads and twin turbo. Not sure what the chassis is but its a full carbon fiber body. Still unfinished.

Aren't those all rebodied 308s made to look like a 288 whereas the Sultan 288 is a real one?

Anyone know of any plans for another auction? If rumors of nearly 5000 cars (or even anywhere close to that number) are true then there are many still sitting..

This XJ220C was sold in the last few months by JD Classics. They state TWR sold it to the Sultan, but he never took delivery, saving it from a life time of storage to an owner who lent it to Jaguar to tour various venues.
