In the Bonhams auction description for the Black F50 they just sold in Scottsdale they claimed that with that road car and the owner's F50 GT on track at Willow Springs, and Didier Theys behind the wheel of each one, the time difference between them was only 2 seconds per lap. Supposedly it was recounted in a FORZA magazine article - just looking to confirm that was what was actually recorded/reported as it seems the F50 GT should hold a much greater advantage.

Could be Streets of Willow or Horse Thief as opposed to the main track?

I have the French magazine Sport-Auto of March 1998 with an exclusive essay of the F50 GT. My French is not very good but I can understand that the magazine talks about the car was 10 seconds faster than a F355 challenge and 12 seconds faster than a street F50.

Won't be Horse Theif as that wasn't added until 2003. Shouldn't be Streets either as that track length/layout doesn't suit those cars at all.

I would think much faster than 12s with development...a Laf is about 7 sec faster than an F50, im sure the F50 gt is more than 5sec faster than the Laf.

Thanks for sharing WJC - all a bit perplexing still, but at least it wasn't simply an error on Bonhams' transcription.

Yes i dont believe that for a second (or 2..). Race tires should be 2 seconds on their own.

Sounds like the GT was down a bank of cylinders to let that happen lol.
