Road course around CLT?

Flying into CLT yesterday, I looked down and saw what looked like a road course racetrack. Maybe 10-12 turns, maybe 1.8-2 miles? Of course I googled "Charlotte Race Track" and "Charlotte Road Course" and was presented with plenty of NASCAR news.

What track did I see from the air?

 

Possibly CMP (Carolina Motorsports Park) in Kershaw SC, depending on when you saw it and your inbound route.

 

I looked up the flight path and CMP was in the flight path. But I dismissed it earlier because I remembered seeing a huge paved paddock. Google images shows a similarly placed paddock, but grassy, did they pave it recently?

There is a road course now at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The entrance and exit onto the tri oval is basically in the same spots as Daytona.

the only possibility other than CMP would be the stillborn High Rock Raceway off I-85 north of Charlotte. But I don't think it was ever fully paved. I met a gent at Cars n Coffee Winston-Salem last year who said he and his partners had bought
the property. And only needed $20 million or so to finish it.
