Terry, on a 355, if in gear upon start up, you must turn key, wait for pump to prime (light stops flashing), then select N and start.

Dave I believe your wrong you just have not left it long enough in 1st without your foot on the brake when the engine is running. I think you know this maybe you did not read Terrys post and thought he meant without engine running??

Yup, from the 99 US 355 F1 OM. Not called an F355 in the OM when she has F1, funnily enough. Pretty much like the other F1 Ferraris except for maybe a small time difference.

Grant - that's not what I'm talking about. I'm taking about starting the car in 1st gear - you can't. The system will NOT select N for you - you need to select N prior to starting.

Dave- Yup, says that in the OM, too. Later F1 Ferrari OMs also state to start in neutral, but that the system will select neutral for you if you "forget". I always select neutral on mine. Dealers often give owners bad advice to leave the Ferrari in neutral when they park it so they do not have to remember to put it in neutral for start. Then they wonder why it beeps at them when they open the door.

Most owners, not you guys, never read the OM so have no clue how a lot of stuff works.
