I love my new-to-me Nero Daytona Cali 30.

But I had an idea to maybe give her a little more visual pop....

Aston Martin for the last couple years has added "lipstick" to the nose/grill surround. I think some of the applications look good.

There is also historic reference to nose colors, stripes, etc.

So, what about either a small solid red or yellow lipstick application on my black Cali?

Anybody better at photoshop (or similar) than me???

Here you go Mark... original colours on the top left.

Personally, I would first blacken the side markers and darken the shiny grill/cavallino (top-right). IMO, the NA side markers break up the lines, are a distracting element. I would then let those changes sink in before contemplating the lipstick because that is a very complex design involving colour, shade, thickness(es) of the band(s) and potentially a 2-colour combination if you are trying to pay homage to a particular car.

I would look at adding stripe with vinyl.

Certainly highlights her smile :) Thanks Micheal! And good2go----I think you are right, if I decide to try it, vinyl would be the safest, non-destructive way to experiment with it....

Yellow maybe to play off the scudaria shields.... I have black calipers, so no tie in there (other than leaving it alone per AD211)....

Calipers can be repainted by the dealer. I'm not a fan of black or dark rims but those may also work for you.

I too just bought a Cali (Tittanium / Black [two TT because that’s how it’s spelled on my sticker]) this Tuesday. The problem (let’s be honest) is not the front, it’s the hideous rear. It’s like three separate designers worked on it. I have the carbon fiber rear moulding too, which helps a little. Ferrari fixed the rear with the Cali T, but then messed up the homage, retro California front with that generic bar of soap design.

If you can figure out a way to fix the rear of our NA cars, that I think it would pay much bigger dividends.

The other suggestion I have would be to play up the retro theme and add modern LED driving lights to the grille (ala 250 GT California), instead of the Aston Martin Vantage lipstick (which I don’t think they are doing anymore with the new Vantage). The driving lights would definitely give it some pop and make the front look more like the original California.

Can someone Photoshop that "driving lights" comment?
