Totally different cars for different needs. Blast round a track in the VS or Europe in the 812. I would like to do both but Europe in the VS would not be on my bucket list.
Yes Definitely they wanted the leak to take place to build up hype. IMO That's the reason they never showed pics of the car cuz they don't want those leaked
You are right, a struggle between what I consider dubious aesthetics and high function. At the moment, I am not sure who is winning but given I would use this car almost purely on the track, that loss of unstrung weight is looking enticing.......
Exactly they are different But at least 50% of Ferrari buyers are into Braggadocious about having the fastest and such IMO most exotic car buyers are superficial and don't know or care about differences - just saying
Zero effect. The 812 is fully sold, Ferrari had a relatively vast pool of customers who couldn't get a tdf. The launch of the 812 was perfectly timed. I don't expect the 812 story is finished yet either.
You hav to admit..Grigio Coburn with pure silver stripes and black CF wheels would look the business!
Totally agree .. I’m no track demon but on a recent meet with some Ferrari owners.. most were pretty clueless on the performance characteristics of their cars. It was all about I have a Ferrari and that was it.. but to be fair that’s okay too if cars aren’t your life.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Anyone else notice Continental Autogroup also posted a second set of shots from the dealer meeting? They are taken at a different angle from the ones posted here by MuratC. 10 images on their FB page. I wonder if that means two dealers have lost their 488VS allocations? https://www.facebook.com/ContinentalAutoSports/ Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The wheels on your F40 LM, you chose not to expose the base material and instead painted them that gorgeous liquid silver. No reason the CF wheels can't be painted to look that good either. Don't understand why people are so anxious to expose the weave of a carbon fiber, besides trying to broadcast to the world that they have the latest tech. I'm pretty sure the next step in CF wheels will be to mold them around some very thin metallic inserts at the surface so these can be diamond cut for more bling.
No one would lose allocations for posting those pics. Maybe a reprimand but losing allocations over leaking pictures when they could have taken everyone's cameras away isn't going to happen.
If the rims are any less than this, I want some money back for the amount I have spent on cupholders!!
I was about to post the same thing. If they actually wanted to avoid any leak, we would have gotten zero pics..
No doubt this car will be amazing . It’ll likely sound better , drive better , be more engaging and give better feedback than it’s competitors. I’m not so sure it’ll be able to beat the Mclaren 720s in straight line speed however . The Mclaren literally jumped two generations into current hypercar territory. I know most of you will tell me YOU DONT CARE ABOUT STRAIGHT LINE ACCELERATION , however , some of us do especially in a 400k plus car designed to be fast. So I know Ferrari will come through with this car but I hope it’s at least competitive with respect to acceleration too.
Putting my comments outsides the quotes tis time: Don't think we had seen the slide in 2nd pic before but Ti con rods are back, helping engine weight reduction and higher RPMs.
Yesterday from wannnagofast in Florida. Not ideal track conditions but 918 vs 720s and I have the speed slips 918 1/4 mile: 140.3181 918 1/2 mile: 169.8113 720s 1/4 mile: 136.817 720s 1/2 mile: 168.593 both can go faster if track was better. However, it's a same day, same track comparison.
Yes I agree with you about straight line speed, I think the 720 will be most likely faster in the straight for 2 main reasons. First of all for the engine power, (since the fact that the 720 has something like 780 hp) and also for the aero. Someone said that the 488 Gto will have a big rear spoiler, and this means downforce, but also drag, which slows the car in the straights..
