Thank you to the kind person who sent me an as-new copy of the fabled Fast Lane magazine's September 1986 issue. An inspired article, you can feel the passion. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Posted here before but good to see again. This 1987 Downdraft is German-registered (UN.QV 87), there are other videos of this Downdraft on the Lamborghini Giro as well, in one of the others, the passenger who took the videos suggests the 'popping' sound from 40 secs on also heard in one of the other high speed videos is caused by the open windows - I'm not sure that's correct. Regardless, at that speed he's pushing along a bit.
Joe, per the notation by Oliver Nameche on the Miura thread, Pierre Brignole owned a Miura S #4419, which happens to be for sale through Simon Kidston. Sounds like he owned the Miura from 1989-2013. My understanding is that Mr. Brignole had a collection of cars in Corsica managed by a live-in mechanic? Not sure how to contact Mr. Brignole, but hopefully someone on this thread will know how! Thanks, Jude
Funny happening, on the main plaza I talked to the owner (know him for more than a decade), he told me the electric doesn't work, the support mechanics at Giro had already a look but didn't find it - took me two minutes to identify the broken fuse... The popping is not normal, it was at that time not running well, was fixed after the return - meanwhile he sold the QV which was originally white/white.
Thank you, I made the connection, now with gold wheels and no wing, when for sale a few years ago. If this is the correct car, I think it was originally built to Middle East spec, it has the ME airbox and it has had the rear safety panel removed - you can see they used LP400 reflectors. Last year I posted an image of it with both Valentino Balboni & Marcelo Gandini (I've never seen another Countach image with the 2 of them together), this is the car below, turn up the volume and listen to the sound on acceleration
Speaking of Marcello Gandini, in 2002, he told me personally (translated via his daughter Marzia) that the Countach with spats is finally complete. I liked hearing that from the man himself. Image Unavailable, Please Login
