Maybe its the picture but with that hood height the Ferrari looks like it could have the engine in the front just like the Corvette...

Just follow those stripes on the 488. There's barely room for a briefcase in there.

Hood stripes seem off, but looks like the carbon wheels that Ferrari mentioned would be on the car.

BTW, where are all of the salivating diehards who were rabidly chomping at all the old masked up mules?

You must be kidding. Check the distance on the Vette from the top of the tire to the peak of the fender and add the height of the huge engine bulge. Must be at least 8" higher. Not to mention that the hood on the 488 is scalloped away for the S-duct outlet.

I'd be disappointed if we got something like this:

..which is clearly not the case here.

They've already said their piece in the main thread where this photo was originally posted as I pointed out in post #2

Not sure about the design, but need better pictures. From what I see now it looks like Aventador + Ford GT + Corvette build on a Ferrari 488. I REALLY miss Pininfarina!

I have ZERO inside knowledge. I'm not good at putting puzzles together either.

    From various postings it seems:

488 new car sales have a dwindling line to get one (plenty of allocations and wait time is short).
The pic in the car is just an interim step to get up interest again before the real special edition shows up.

    Jut my thoughts on things.

the speciale had a fin on rear sill / rocker panel.

at the tdf it looks like a fin pointing to the ground / or some sort of small wing.

how does it look on the GTO?
not sure if the track width is a bit wider.
    clearly there is a shadow.

i have no idea. something seems odd at this spot in the picture.

Where do you think Corvette gets its design inspiration? 1964 Ferrari GTO Serie II, four cars are all that is produced, then in 1968 a suspicious looking "vette" shows up with the roadster body gone.
Corvette has been borrowing Ferrari lines since the beginning. The design is all Ferraris, has always been.

As many folks said, we need to see the entire car. I like the fact that they are putting a lot of work in the car aero performance. I think the light in the picture hides details. For example, from the spy picture, it seems they have adopted the floor extending under door sills of the Challenge car but the photo seems to point to the contrary. Finally, the rear spoiler seems to be quite extreme for a road going Ferrari. A good start, but it is not lighting my pants on fire... View attachment 2492880

They also both have four wheels.......disgusting that Ferrari could not come out with a more innovative solution......blatant plagiarism, I'm totally out too! :D

    Sure I am kidding.
Even going back to the 599 it to was compared to the Corvette design.
The real design comparison will be between the 2020 Corvette and the 488 replacement. Then Flavio Manzoni will have to show a lot more thought than a few styling tweaks presented here.

Yet, nobody has roasted the 288 GTO to holy hell for being nothing more than a 308 with a few tweaks here and there...

Good point. We know they've put a lot of effort into the drivetrain. Will be interesting to get a better idea of the overall package on the 488 SSS.

the lower corners at the front bumper are very tdf like.

i can‘t name a sportscar with a similar front end shape / with such deep, empty bottom-corners.

so headlights seem to be more in the middle.
maybe the front track width got really around 5-10cm in plus.

gives it a bodykit / upgraded style.
    but not negativ.
like when a square chin is wider than the face. ok. this comes strange.
to say it in car language: somehow like the S1 compared to the sportquattro.

Perhaps you can repent at leisure your hasty decision. Ferrari is not known to give an early build for RHD UK models... ;)
