The numbers I quoted are easily available by doing a simple search. Your numbers....I guess you're making them up. You truly believe GM will make just 12,000 Corvettes for calendar 2018? Again, I'll take that bet RIGHT NOW.

Yes, in pretty much US market ONLY. I think it was Reuss or Tadge that said it's designed with that market mind (which means it will have a trunk / frunk to carry bags, etc).

The investment GM made in the plant has to have a quick ROI - there's no way they signed off on that unless there were commitments of increased volume, and the current C7 isn't doing it.

The only answer, then, is Europe, where 5,000+ units is totally realistic, provided the car meets what buyers want.

I'm more than confident I'm right here, because when the C8 is introduced, Chevy will expect sales to look like this:

    North America (US and Canada):
    C7: 5,000-10,000 units
    C8: 25,000-30,000 units

    Europe:
C7: bleed off remaining inventory, no further sales
    C8: 5,000-8,000 units

Look for deep discounts on C7s so they can move DOH inventories, and they'll significantly scale back production. Wouldn't be surprised if any C7 beyond 2019 will be order only, leftover inventory risk is too high. Base C8 starts at $65K.

That's your plan to deliver 40,000+ units. Bank on it.

that could get tricky; the convertible would perhaps need a different aero package than the coupe (targa) version... ;)

We don't count 1979. That car was nothing to be proud of.

But the point is since the introduction of the C6 ad C7, production has been steady at between at around 20-30K cars a year.

Chevy has announced it will only make 12,000 2018 Vettes, including the special additions.

Maybe they will do a mid year release of ME 2019 MY. That would be perfect.

Anyway I'm bored watching BJ and the endless corvettes, chevelles, novas, camaros and the rest of the garbage for 70-90K. Wish RM or Bonhams would be televised.

True. The overall point I wanted to make is that they have eclipsed 31k units many times. And I will add that I only read the most recent posts and did not understand the conversation was about late models. Anyway, watching Barrett Jackson right now waiting for the ZR1 to cross. Mr Bush helped sell a C7Z06 Carbon 65 for a veterans foundation for $1.4m. Pretty moving and impressive.

    I saw that. MEH!

No different than the first C7 selling to Rick Hendrick for 1.2 million for charity. Doesn't mean anything to real Vette prices.

I never said that it would do anything to vette prices at all. I said I appreciate what he did without using those words. As a prior service guy I found it authentic and moving. If it was Obama I guess everyone would have been falling all over themselves. But we all know he hates gasoline engined cars.

Sorry but I was wrong above. The Bush car sold for $1.5m. What is $100k amongst friends?

    Mayor,

You're correct as I drove a 78' or 79' many years ago and was very disappointed with the car as it was slow, over weight and sluggish with
it's handling etc.....They've come a long way with the c6's and c7's so I'm interested in what the c8's will bring.

Actually, I agree. I really hope they prove me wrong. I'll be the first to congratulate them. But they are bucking against history.

If it looks like that, they will sell bunch. My only issue is how so many ME exotic cars are starting to essentially look alike. I would buy that car though at under 100K.

I wouldn't buy a first year model change over Corvette as it seems they don't offer the same quality as following years.

I hope Chevy benchmarks the 720S for the ME Corvette. Think if they can meet/exceed that cars performance!?

Not the regular vette, maybe the Z06, or "Zora" version.

I’ll buy whatever the highest spec is. It will still be a crazy bargain. I can also get it serviced 5 minutes from my house and buy it off of a guy I’ve had beers with many times. That’s the beauty for many people of buying a Corvette instead of a Ferrari.
