    Congrats for your allocation :)
The word has been around for some time that Ferrari would have its part in the selection process.
But it sounds strange to me that with 900 cars it would not be a LE car (there were officially 799 F12 tdf), or that not being a LE there would be only 900 cars; previous expectations were significantly higher.

900 cars: that's way lower than some of the guesses I've read in the past weeks. Anyway, congrats on your allocation.

I strongly doubt about 900 cars only. According to my (German) dealer he has the same number of allocations as for the Speciale and there were about 2,500 built as far as I know.

Perhaps 900 is the number of berlinetta and spider allocated to North America? We often get about ⅓ of the allocation.

Anyway, that is really more Ferrari's concern. Your concern is the allocation of one car and it appears congratulations are in order! :)

Yes 900 cars is definitely wrong. In Germany are 12 Ferrari dealer and each get round about 25 cars. Wordwide 193 Ferrari Dealers. When each get just 10 cars we have 1.930 sold cars. I know from round about 4.000 cars inclusive Special Challenge Cars and Aperta. I think they will built round about 3.000 until 3.300 488 Speciale. And thats good .-) So I agree with GoHardGT3RS and Caeruleus11.

A allocation is fine but just from the factory. But I wish the best for you and keep my finger crosses for you.

Not sure that's a good location for exiting air as it's in a relatively high pressure area more conducive for scooping - see the scoop at the base of the rear window.

Also, if an exit the shape would need to be a more pronounced backward facing opening.

    Same applies to me.
However total production numbers will be much, much higher. In the range of 3000 or higher.
Globl preview at dealers will be on February 20; invite only.
The car will be a combination of the 488 and FXXK.

I think you are spot on. No way will the run be 900 units. This is not an LE car.

I don't understand why many worry if the rear wing will be mobile or fixed. They have already declared a 20% increase compared to the starting car, which was already excellent. This means that the result is exceptional, equal to 2 as the value of efficiency, and in fact already declared. So at this point, whether it is mobile or fixed, the value of efficiency is 2, and in fact the rest is no longer important.
Praise to Ferrari, if it has reached this value without even the help of a real aileron, fixed or mobile.

i´m Porsche lover. last Ferrari was a F430. but drove all the mentioned cars (except the 997 4.0RS)

some thoughts about 488 vs. 458 Speciale:

was the 360 a good car? no. screaming engine ok. but the rest... a 360 CS on the other hand. old school race car.

was the F430 a weapon? nep. the SMGII shifted even faster... but the Scud. a freaking tremendous drivers car. also already oldschool race car.

the 458 - the base of the greatest SpecialEdition cars till now - was the first "car" - and not a machine with cables everywere, plenty of quality and reliable issues. it was something more. engine was again perfect. a good car. just the suspension mehh.. but holy moli the speciale. around the world, from plenty people all across different car cultures. an somehow "affordable" ultimate dream car.

so the 488GTB - faster than the speciale - also a better chassis - some give it (two times a row (until now; the GTO engine will follow 2018 :) )) an engine of the year overall award, it wins races and championsships in GTE, GT3, WEC, etc. - and those looks - all for a price tag of 220k€ in EU. so we are waiting for a 488"GTO". and i´m sure - it will be again the best compared to the previous models.

as the 991GT3RS is - compared to all the other ones before. as long you stuck not in one problem. about one "detail" - as for example the gearbox - ok 1 of around 10 points missed. so 9 out of 10 - even if the PDK is more than great - the car is still far away from not beeing perfect.
so maybe with a 911-nail in the head - some will prefer a GT2RS over the 488GTO.

but i can not believe that anybody is in real doubt that the 488GTO will NOT be a superb track focused sportscar in each aspect.

clear nobody takes a 488 over a Speciale.
    i would take a 360CS over a F430.
    a Scud over a 458.
    and a Speciale over a 488.

    as i would take a 996GT3RS against a 997GT3.
    a 997.2GT3RS (not even 4.0) against a 991GT3.

    a 996GT3RS i would maybe choose against a 360CS.
    a 997.2GT3RS not over a Scuderia. (but a 997 4.0RS or a 997GT2RS i would. but those two also not against a 599GTO)
    a 991.1GT3RS not over a Speciale.
so. the odds are looking good - also for my taste - that i will love the 488GTO.:)

can´t wait for geneva. my small dealer gets maybe 2 or 3 cars... so for sure i will not see the car in real before.

3000-4000 cars for a "Special". 800 cars for a "Limited Exclusive Edition". Yesterday I was following the 488 "Speciale" prototype with my standard production 208 GTS turbo, whose whole production was 250 units: times really changed.

    Ciao

Whether he is or isn't, doesn't matter. The whole world knows the direction the motor industry is being pushed (electric) so, whether some choose to believe it or not, whether it's 488's successor or, the car after that, big changes are in store and, will be realized to many/most's displeasure here, that I am sure. So, enjoy the mid mount 8 while it is still available in new car form ;)

I’d be looking at the math slightly differently. How many cars can the V8 line produce annually and how will that production be divided between the 488, 488VS, Portofino, Portofino coupe (?) and I presume the V8 Lusso. I also guess the 488 replacement will start hitting the line very late 2019.
