My latest project: Carpet replacement

    After 30 years, the carpet has faded to three different dirty shades of tan, grey, and what's that color. I have always wanted to refresh the carpet but deemed the several thousand dollars for a set of carpet such a steep sum. So, 3 yards of raw carpet, 50 feet of binding material, a Singer heavy duty sewing machine, and lots of youtube watching.... I got new carpet. It took a week and $300 but well worth it. Looks like new now. I took the opportunity to clean up the seats as well.

    For some reason, the carpet on the door remains in good condition so I drove down to an automotive carpet supply store in San Francisco and matched up a sample to that color. It turned out to be a Mercedes Benz carpet. The store wanted a **** load of money for a yard and I ended up ordering it on line using the carpet code. I don't mind supporting the local stores but when their prices are 3x of others, that is just stupid.

    Well done! Really quite amazing how much dye was pulled out of the original carpet over the years due to cleaning and UV exposure. Has to completely transform the interior for sure !

    BTW, if you really want to give it the factory look, the rubber inserts for the floor matts are sold by MrFiat.
