Good choice. Maintenance costs for the 458 are less than a 430 (related to me by a Ferrari mechanic). So another plus. Show us some pictures!

I’d buy a 430, drive it for a few years, and then trade up to a 458 when the arbitrage between the two is $20k instead of $100k.

Its going to be awhile until 458s become 80K vehicles.

I made no assumption on the absolute price, (I did not make an 80k projection) only the arbitrage difference between the two cars.
We know from experience - 308/328/348/355/360/430 - the arb comes in when more newer models come out. The 458 will be no different.

Id say 458. But a three pedal Ferrari just has more appeal for me. So if three pedal, the decision becomes very hard....................

Totally agree and will go a bit further: I think 458s will bottom out at a higher pricetag than F430s. Due to several factors (last Pininfarina, last NA V8, rising hybrid/electric paranoia), I don't see the 458 ever being a sub 100k car.

    Kind regards,

    Nuno.

To the OP, why did you decide on the 458 in the end?

Even taking all the factors away (which I personally think mean nothing), the V8 cars show similar depreciation curves so since the 458 started at a higher price, its logical that its bottom will be higher, so I agree that even just decent cars won't fall below $100k.
