    1. Remove large Philips head screw hidden under door pull handle

    3. Remove chrome bulkhead from door latch, releasing small metal tab form underneath

    4. Remove single screw under armrest holding armrest pad, (you may need to GENTLY pry/separate pad from support, if it has been stuck there for years), push/slide pad to the REAR, (tab is pointing forward) and remove. Use a retainer tool as I did, or a smooth popsicle stick, or a spoon handle, or ?

    5. Remove 4 screws and speaker grill cover, AND remove large hidden screw at upper rear corner of grill opening

    6. Remove 2 large hex bolts thru armrest support, arrow indicates hole for pad screw already removed

    7. Remove single screw from surround frame of inner door release, then pull the handle slightly out to allow frame to slide forward & remove, (to install, 2 small tabs must slide UNDER 2 pins for handle pivot)

    8. These are the 2 tabs holding the power mirror switch in place, you COULD slide a smooth tool between the leather and the plastic housing on the inside of the panel to release the switch, or, do what I did and just undo the connector when the panel is removed, there was 6 inches of wire and plenty of room to get my hands behind the panel once the top has released from the door frame, ( have a cardboard box or small bucket with a fluffy towel on the ground to support the panel while you pull the connector apart).

    9. Now you can start at the edge of the panel with the previously mentioned retainer tool and slide under and pry to release all of the plastic push-in retainers around the perimeter of the panel, next pic shows everything that holds the trim panel onto the door frame, except screws you have already removed

    10. If you want to remove the door pull assembly from the door panel, to treat the leather maybe, remove more screws

    YOU ARE DONE !!

PS: and of course, reverse to install….

Fantastic, Gary! Just for any newbies out there, the Series 1 is slightly different in places. My Series 1 was very different, from years of ham fisted amateurs not bothering with half the screws and buggering the Christmas tree clips

OMG ! Thanks Nobbi for the clips.

I was looking at Fiat, Alfa, Lancia, Volvo, Porsche. But it is Mercedes. The 463 G-Class!
