488 GTO ?

Question.....the 812 was shown online last year on February 16th......now the 488....is February 16th a special Day in Ferrari History or is that just a coincidence?
Enzo`s Birthday is the 18th..so if thats not the reason..anyone an idea?

 

Your being real about the situation and I like that. We are Ferrari crazy now and they know it, this is all part of the RACE plan. They have created hype for this car and managed the lists and allocations like master artists. I predict a massive price premium for this car.

16th Feb 2018 is Chinese New Year. I'm guessing Ferrari is choosing this date to cater for the growing market in China and Asia

I asked my dealer if ordering a Lusso would help getting the so precious allocation, (already own a 488 GTB since 2016), he told me that i'm on the reserve list, (List B), and that ordering a Lusso would increase my chances just slightly.
However i'm seriously consider ordering a Lusso as i became a father on september for the first time and would love to use a Ferrari as a family, weekend, and why not daily, car.
I still hope that maybe i will manage to get a GTO asap... (At least a year before the official presentation of the 488 successor..)

I had problems to log on Ferrari media site this morning. But now it seems to be working correctly. But no 488 Pista (or whatever it will be called ) pictures so far

Noon!!! This is going to be the longest 2 hours ever!!!! I don't know why but I have never been so exiceted about a Ferrari launch. Those marketing geniuses have done an amazing job

Usually yes, they choose noon, now Italian, to unveil the first official photos

 

The 488 engine was downsized to 3.9 partly coz of Chinese regulations. They could not sell 4.0 or higher engines there.

I can't understand the extreme excitement for this model when no similar enthusiasm existed for the 488, and this is a lightweight track focused version of the same car, no more than 10% faster or better overall.

Having said that it is 11.11 am in Maranello now! 49 minutes to go.

Will they use a 3.999 V8 on future cars before passing to V6,??This is 3.902, I think there's no reason to not exploit it till 3.999. I ask this to all people well informed on Ferrari, especially Alberto, challenge owners or great enthusiast major Ferraristi that usually have anticipated info on many models to come

Whilst I truly appreciate the Lusso, being a young father, I can only imagine how badly that would work as a baby hauler. Huge doors that are a squeeze in tight parking spots, the need to climb half into the (low) car to put the baby in the back seat, no room for a pram in the trunk...

I won't move into a 2+2 until the girls are old enough to climb in and strap themselves in. Just my 2 francs...
