A big part of the differential is also the 2+2 factor. 4 seaters have historically been lower than their 2 seat brethren.

It's difficult to say what the value of a Mondial is. I've been looking for a replacement for my 3.2Mondial Coupé (most probably a Maserati Gransport...) for some months now and the prices offered (by traders) on my car were close to ridiculous. My car is a full-history car, less than 60K km (app. 37K miles) all books and tools and the Ferrari Classiche red book. At this moment value-wise the best thing which comes to mind is push the car in a barn and not looking at it for, let's say, 20yrs... ;) :D

Why a trader...just put it for sale on the usual places : ebay, marktplaats,2ehands....
Traders are just waiting for people like you...thinking you're desperate to sell and as always offering ridiculous low prices.
OK, you have to do the Technische Autokeuring before selling, but if your car is in mint condition, ...dont wurry.

I would never push my ferrari in a barn and never look at it for 20 years! Why would you do that? For its value to go up? Why worry about that? Unless you have bought it for that specific reason. Otherwise, drive it. Enjoy it. You never know what's gonna happen to you in 20 years, or before that. You might never see it again. Just sayin.

Hi Guido, thanks for your reply.
Yes i agree with you those are the places to sell a car. But for me, personally, i'm not very keen with people at my doorstep to buy/sell a car. Afraid to get the usual 'dreamers' and/or 'tyre-kickers'... I've never sold a car that way. Always traded the car / part-exchange at dealerships.
I don't know what you mean by 'Technische Autokeuring' but as for myself i can't even hold a screwdriver so all maintenance has been carried out by Kroymans in the first 4 years of ownership, last 3 years by renowed specialist Forza Service.

Don't worry! Just kidding! I would never push it in an barn, lol :D No, after almost 7 years of ownership i'm just lurking around for the next car.
Owning it for almost 7 years means this is the car i've owned for the longest period ever. Must mean something. I've even started a thread a while ago on the car:

I say our rides will not go out of the barn anymore in 20y, simply because they are not allowed to be on the road anymore because of the possible emission regulation o_O

Drive it! Please! but I know you do :)
Why not put it for sale here on Fchat? a lot of people are looking for a 3.2.

Dealers.... Offering 20,000 euro for a Mondial T in perfect condition and then reselling it at 45,000 euro. Happens all the time here.

Don't ever sell your car to a dealer unless you're in urgent need of cash ... and even then, you'll get more from a private person if things need to go fast.

The bad part if you need urgent money and you offer it for a bit lower price... Everyone starts to think something is wrong with it. Red flag etc. Perfectly invalid in some cases. I guess we have PPIs for that :)

Yes, i do. And still enjoying every ride in it. I will start with an update of my thread on the car. We have been to some great events with it!

As for the sale, i have the exact experience as "Stekkefun" describes. I know traders must make a living but prices offered on the car were just an insult.
And because of it no deal was made. No need of selling, just looking around for the next step. Plenty of time

I have my mondial since 2002....15 years. I dont have this lurking : selling it to own something else more exiting. Something to do with age ?!
In Belgium you have to pass "Autokeuring" before you can sell your car...the document you recieve is only valid for 1 month. In that month the buyer has to registrate this car or he has to pass again at "Autokeuring".

I have recently found a deep love for the Mondial, I am looking for a "True" Grand Touring car something I can cross the US in drive through the mountains, across the plains, and rock and roll through the Badlands out west (yes, I know, that is a barrage of imagery). I have a 308GT/4, a 208GTB, 308GTS QV but I am looking for something more luxurious I had the opportunity to take trip from, St. Pete to Miami in a Mondial Convertible 3.2 and fell in love now I am looking for a Coupe. I figured here was the best place to ask what I should be looking for in terms of problems point and deferred maintenance. I am not one to sit and sip drinks with my friends and look at my cars I drive my cars everyday. Please help me some direction, a road map to buying a Mondial. I am not sure which version to look at, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

That depends on many factors. Are you are DIY or you rather go to a specialist and if you are a DIY what tools you have and space for a car lift.

However since you touched the 3.2 already I would stay with that one. Need to say that the QVs are more agile in handling and the 3.2 lady has more fat on her hips. 3.2 coupes are hard to find btw rather then the QVs. Maintenance wise the QV and the 3.2 are like your other 3 rides (same engine and transmission) The Mondial T is a totally different car and maintenance costs will be more high. It also has power steering, ABS and adjustable shocks. The last two options sometimes giving one a headache. Interior is different too and you will need to like it. Personally I like the 3.2 interior.

Dino2400 has a 3.2 for sale so we just heard :) not sure if you would need to do something on the emission when you import into the US.

Thanks, I have a full shop aka the Man Cave with a lift I am DIY kinda guy and had a friend who was a Ferrari Mechanic and taught me all about working on my cars. I have been looking at a Mondial 8 black with tan Coupe. The reason for the coupe is a roof rack (don't laugh to hard) my 208GTB and the 308GT/4 (my first car) blasted through the PA foot hills of Appalachians in all kinds of weather and were my daily drivers for years until I gutted the 208 and turned it into a "track car" (still drive it on the road) then 11years ago I moved to Florida and I got the 308GTS/QV which is driven pretty much 4days a week. So not afraid of milage or maintenance. I imported the 208 from Italy so I am ok with Euro Spec cars. The T interests me because of the ABS and Power Steering especially for long trips. I am Planning 1 year road trip around the US.

Then you are fine with a T, but to be honest I make 2000 miles trips 2 or 3 times a year with my Mondial and I do not miss ABS or the power steering. Even not in the narrow streets in Italy. Parking is more effort, but as long as you role it's fine.

    Here are some Euro T's

All the best in your search!

Having made same trek you envision a number of times in much younger days - though in less interesting vehicles - my recommendation is a German touring car. I can't have someone else looking for the same Mondial that I am...:). Seriously, I favor the later models with a T coupe being top. The drive arrangement just makes more sense and later developmental engineering in the model line should be a plus. Personally favor the aesthetics of dash configuration, side vents, bumper treatments, etc. as compared to my 8 or the other 80's models within the breed.

Thanks for the reply and info how is it making those long trek's in the Mondial comfort wise? If I decide to go with an 8 that I have found here in the US should I consider upgrading the A/C?
