Yes, all of a sudden seems that Ferrari is no longer free to do something without spoiling media and conferences, remeber, this is a 488 VS; not the last car Ferrari produces, or a Ferrari straship, they are always free to reveal what they want and when they want, before Geneva too.
There's a tradition of V!2 and V8 presented online well before the International Motor show, we just need to be patient, then we all see what an italian beast they have built up for us.

anybody know what time tomorrow we can expect the release? I'm assuming it will be maranello time( just want to know so can convert it)

 

12-15 or 18-19, but I think that we have to wait till 21 February, since some presentations are due to the day after tomorrow.

That would make sense, the video previews being planned for 7 pm CET in most European countries - that way the invited customers would feel nobody gets the information before them.

I think you will find that the spoiler/deck does not move.

The spoiler is part of the deck (which includes the scoops that blow the extremities of the spoiler adjacent to the lights) and said deck, like on 488 is big, too big to move without causing huge disturbance to the flow as it carries over the basic shape and interface to the fenders and rear window as on the 488 and is not a wing shaped thing.

this blown spoiler EVO is a new Ferrari patent, in which the deflector, actively controlled, manages in real time the down flow section to vary the aero flow going under (and consequently above) the spoiler body, actively managing drag and downforce depending on yaw rate, throttle position, lateral and longitudinal acceleration and sideslip angle. It is a wonderful evolution invented by Enrico Cardile, a master in GT aerodynamics, now in F1 department. Ferrari is always Ferrari, capable to design dream street cars without putting big wings when it's not mandatory as in track racing.

So it confirms that the deck remains fixed and that the deflector MAY be made to move as it's described as "possible embodiment". Having done a few patents myself I know you try to cover every potential design variation even if not necessarily used. BTW, very curious that they limit themselves to only a mid- engine car in the patent.

In any case, if the deflector has been made moveable, I suspect it will be used to limit the flow in the internal duct, in order to stall the "wing" at high speeds for reduced drag.

Exactly my thought, it'not sure it is movable in this model, but I hope very much it is. As far as mid-engine restriction, likely it isn't as good in front engine cars due to limited length rear volume, I think best solution in the future would be to incorporate the active spoiler from LaF with the blown spoiler plus deflector. Anyway, let'see what comes out. I'm looking forward to see aero features of this car in all their subtle details
