Here is one for you JM........ https://www.classicdriver.com/en/article/cars/why-early-ferrari-challenge-cars-are-talk-town
That's the sort of reply you'd get from the NRA if you say modify your gun laws....they just don't get it. I don't 'get' paying for a numberplate, particularly when you can buy an investment property for half that price (in the country, obviously)
Capital growth would be much higher with a number plate. Investment property in the country is an oxymoron
$135K buy,rates and water $1K /year,$200 clear/week,$140 payback/week. Views you city mob would pay $1mill for,yeah I don't know what I'm talkin' about.
Yeah, you don't. $1mil would buy a 1 bed unit with no views And you get what roughly a 6% rental return according to your figures, big deal. Zero capital growth and that's where money is made with real estate. Give me a number plate over a country property anytime
Here you go ,let us know how you got on. https://www.shannons.com.au/auctions/2018-shannons-sydney-autumn-classic-auction-rare-number-plates/
Mate, it's simple supply and demand. No more numeric number plates. EVER. Population is increasing by 300k/year, we won't run out of country properties any time soon, especially since the vast majority don't want to live there.. I won't buy a numeric plate because I put my money into Sydney and Melbourne property instead BUT if I had to choose between a country property and a numeric plate, the plate would win for me everytime. The publicly posted auction results are proof
I like number 294.......The only problem is I would have to sell my car to buy it and I guess I would be left with taping the plate to my arse.......
I've been investing in Victorian Heritage plates since 2001 and now have five triple digit and one two digit plates, they have been excellent investments. I paid $30k for my first plate (360) to give you an idea of the returns. The plate market has been red hot for the last 18mths or so; but it really took off when a Chinese National paid $2.4 million for NSW number 4. Kind of ironic given that "4" sounds like "death" in Chinese so the number has a negative stigma attached to it.
Victorian plates are still "cheap" in comparison to NSW. Next car I buy I will probably have registered in VIC, mostly to bypass the hassle of getting a pink slip every year and I'd like to get a 5 digit numeric plate for it while they are still cheapish
Yes, such a great system in VIC/QLD/SA/etc. You can drive your 400,000km ex-taxi Falcon with no shocks or brakes forever, providing you don't sell it. I always know it's Christmas holidays in Sydney, because I start seeing lots of sh i t box cars from QLD in the traffic.
if state govts were serious about the road toll (vs speed fine revenue) they'd implement an annual safety check nationally, just like every advanced country in the world. The current system (apart from NSW) is a disgrace.
