Hi guys. Just picked up this 2011 458 the other day. I've searched extensively on this subject but cannot find any results. In the glovebox, there are 2 cables (the usb for downloading music to the hard drive, and the 30 pin old school iphone connector). I just went to the apple store and bought the 30pin to lighting converter, and plugged it up to my iphone x. It charges my phone so the cable works, but I am unable to find the menu to select Ipod.
I went to Menu->Media-> only options are cd and HDD. There is no Ipod anywhere. Also, when I plug it in, I am not seeing the ferrari logo on my phone as others have reported. Do i need to program this to get the ipod to work? Special hidden menu somewhere?

Thank everyone. Really appreciate the input, it's getting annoying toggling through radio stations trying to find the song I want to listen to in my phone.

I have a 15 spider and had this happen to me last week...one moment the tft showed iPod and then next startup it didn’t. I unplugged the bovee Bluetooth and started over and once I paired iPhone it showed again on tft.
I don’t know if you need to have your phone connected First for iPod to show.

Hi Sam, congrats on yor car.

See your pic #2 ... If you get no IPOD nect to HDD| DISC, the Ipod is not recognized.

And if the Ipod does not show Ferrari , ... you need another "adaptor" ... :D

What a burn! You'd probably guess your best bet for an apple adapter would be from apple.... Now, with all this said. I am able to charge the phone through that cable. Is the statement still valid that the phone is not being recognized?

If I recall I had the same issue with my iPhone. I purchased a new old school iPod with the old large connection and it worked perfectly. I don’t believe it will work on the small connection ( iPhone ) it’s an IPod adapter and not an iPhone adapter . It will not recognize the iPhone. Best , Kirk

I'll go dig through a few boxes and see if I can find an old ipod. Will report back with findings.
Thanks everyone for all the help.
    Will update shortly.

Try the old Ipod it works in mine but also got Bovee1000 that fits to Ipod male connection in glove box and will also recognize that and you can then stream music from bluetooth.
If Ipod doesn't show up on TFT screen then you're not getting the necessary connection.

Alright guys. Ordered the BOVEE on Ebay, 90 bucks shipped. Just got it plugged it in and found that I got the ipod to work for 20 seconds or so and then it cut out. upon closer inspection, I noticed my ipod cable is frayed, looks like its been slammed more than a few times in the glovebox. I'm able to get it working if I bend the cable and play with it, but a slight wiggle and it cuts out again. ugggghhh. I'm going to see if I can order a cable tomorrow, I peeked under the dash trying to follow the cable and have no idea where it goes. I'm hoping it will be an easy install but doubtful, looks like I need to rip the whole dash apart.
Does anyone by chance know how to install a new cable, or where it goes?

For what its worth, the Bovee worked great, and sound quality was better than expected.

    Hi Melvok,
That looks like the cd/hard drive in the glove box. If that’s the case, should be a piece of cake.
    Thank you!
I’m going to get the cable ordered today and update with the install.
    Thanks again

Not yet. Ordered the cable, should be in tomorrow and I plan on trying to install it over the weekend. Hopefully it's as straight forward as it looks. I'll try to snap some pictures of the install in case anyone decides to go down this route in the future.

Ok, this is pretty lame. I just removed the glovebox, and the ipod cable definitely does not go to the cd changer/hard drive. It goes to the amp which i can kind of see with the glovebox removed, but not really. I've been trying to figure out how to pop out the leather surround under the climate control, and don't really want to try any more of fear of breaking it. Anyone know how to get to the amp? or how to remove the leather trim surround under the climate control unit?

    thanks

Alright guys, It's friday night at 11pm and I got the cable installed and everything buttoned up. I attached some images below. This was not that difficult of a job, but was a major PITA because of the awkward angles.

-First off, I removed the glovebox. This is pretty straight forward. There are a combination of torx screws and phillips. I believe there are 3 inside the glovebox, and 3 below. Once these are removed, I yanked on the leather trim to the right of the glovebox that has the 458 signature on it.

    - Once the glovebox was loose, I disconnected the various harnesses and put it aside.

    - Then, I removed the 4 allen bolts holding the cd changer and hard drive and tried to pull it out. This didn't work so i removed the screws for the carrier. After pulling this out, I noticed my ipod connector did not go to this device, it went further towards the tunnel of the vehicle where the amp was. (keep in mind, if you are ever in the unfortunate situation where you need to replace your ipod cable, this step is not neccessary.

    - I needed to remove the leather trim under the climate control. From the drivers side of the vehicle, there are 2 10m bolts that mount the left side of this trim to the dash frame. There is also a phillips that joins this trim piece to the trim piece next to it. I removed these 3 bolts, and yanked. the trim and the climate control came loose and were now out of the way.

    - Now I had a clear view of the amp. I removed the 4 allen bolts mounting the amp to the dash frame, and wiggled it out. I disconnected the connector and was hoping to find my ipod connector plugged on the rear side but it wasn't there either>

    - I then started tugging of the cable and noticed the foam started moving. I moved that out of the way and voila, there it was.

    - Plugged in new connector and put everything back together. Took me about 3 hours, but could do it again in probably 1 hour now that I know how to do it. Again, not difficult, just very tedious.

Everything is now working as it should. Now, off to trying to figure out a check engine light I got the other day. This car has been keeping me busy lately!!

Newbie here, do they all come with the USB and the IPod connector or was it an option to have the IPod connector?

Great write-up Sam ! And you fixed it !

So if someone needs to renew the 30-pins cable he can see all your notes and pics. Thanx.

What CEL do you have . Did you have a OBDII tester in it yet ?

I believe on the 458 (as on the 599) the ipod connector was a (stupidly expensive, in typical Ferrari way) option.
Thankfully now the USB comes as standard and an ipod can be connected on it.
