So im sure most of you heard about the steep tariffs trump is looking to impose on steel coming up. Europe retaliated and said they would be imposing tariffs on american things like harley davidsons & bourbon & levi jeans. Trump fired back with the idea of possibly imposing a tariff on European cars.

With all the craziness going & with the crazy prices new cars are going for as is, what do you think comes of all this in regards to future car costs and to existing cars.

I would comment but there is a very vocal Trump fan club in these forums. Let's just say that the future history books will have a good time describing his time in office.

CNBC had a discussion about the increase in the cost of steel , it amounted to $160 per vehicle.

    1) You know the automakers wont just pass along a $160 increase
    2) That isn't factoring in any tariffs on european cars he mentioned after

    already in effect:
american cars going into europe have a tariff of 10%.
european cars coming into america have a 2.5% tariff.

the average price increase of american cars will be negligible. all of the talk about the sky falling and people being laid off for this increase in steel prices, makes me wonder how any of our industries survived the 50% increase in energy prices over 2017......
