New OEM or are you going to have aftermarket with seams?

I love a hot mess. I wish I was doing the work/helping/didn't have a million other things to do.

Wilton wool with seams similar to how a 308 carpeting was done.

Got it. So it will have seams, correct?

I'm asking because I've hunted for new OEM (molded) carpets and cannot find any so I want to save mine which is in very good shape but I'm having a hard time getting an odor out..

    Yes correct.

There very tough to find and dying them makes the carpeting rock hard. Try steam cleaning the carpet with one of the carpet cleaning machines they rent at Home depot.

Thanks. I've already steam cleaned it, bombed it and every thing else and the smell still comes back. I need to try an ozone generator.

Forget it. I oz'ed my 308. smelled like oz for a couple of months. Then when that cleared the original smell returned. Tried the bomb you recommended. Same result.

Is the bottom of the luggage compartment double skinned? I've never looked at the carpeted (liner) side of the sheet metal on my car, but I recently saw the underside with the composite panel removed and it looked relatively flat with a neat diagonal weld from corner to corner. I'm starting to think it's been in an major accident (or the car ran over something which pierced the luggage floor). o_O

    Yep.

What a fantastic thread - just finished reading from the beginning. Great work Bradan! I could not sleep at night if I let my 355 get anywhere near this bad.

No it is just one sheet. If you remove one of the rubber plugs in the corners of the trunk floor you will see it is just one sheet.

Much appreciated, gents. Unfortunately, with 5~6 previous owners, the full history of my car is a mystery.
