If I were to pay the very high premium to have carbon fiber wheels the purpose would be to display them in their exposed natural state, not to paint them.

That's the main decision I'm trying to work out - heart says cf, brain and the terrible kerbs here in parts of the uk says non-cf....

If I get an allocation I will do some serious research on the CF wheels and the ability to fix them due to minor 'scuffs" etc. If they cant be "repaired" then its a no CF wheels for me. Being so "anal retentive" "scuffs" would drive me crazy :)

First world conundrum indeed. To be (stripe) or not to be (stripe), that is the question: Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, Or to take arms against a sea of troubles, And by opposing end them? To stripe or not to stripe your Pista. Hard to imagine a more first world Shakespearean dilemma. But hey, were Shakespeare alive, he may have been first faced with an even greater dilemma, to suffer a lusso or miss out on Pista until the secondary market. His net cost is the same, 100k loss on lusso or 100k premium on aftermarket Pista, but "suffering" a lusso enables an earlier pista. Ahh, the slings and arrows...

For sure. In Geneva I was told the CF can't be repaired if hit, whether by kerb or bloody pot-hole! The only option is live with scuffed wheels or buy a new wheel. That makes the CF wheel a non-starter for me, which is sad because they are exquisite. I took a few shots of them up close. the detail is superb. Per an earlier post I agree, painting them would be a sin.

I’d love to see more like this. Love the purity without the stripes. Thank you.

It’s interesting how our opinions are formed by the launch cars. I’m very guilty of this as well. I think it’s safe to assume that few of us would ever consider striping our car if Ferrari never displayed their launch cars with the livery. For example, how many Italia’s or 488 GTB’s have you seen striped? I guess I’ve seen a couple with aftermarket stripes, but I don’t recall ever seeing a factory job, though, no doubt, there are a few. For that matter, I’ve never seen a LaFerrari striped. I’m sure there are a few out there, but it certainly isn’t the norm. Yet, for the Pista (as well as its predecessors) its an overwhelming norm. It isn’t because “that’s what the hardcore versions should have”. It’s because of how we’re influenced. I’m not criticizing those that prefer stripes, though I admittedly don’t like them. I just think it’s a facinating example of how we form our choices.

    Prior post:
Stripe is common among more LE class of car. For good reason. It adds the drama this car deserves. The stripe highlights the more dramatic contours of the car over the GTB. In particular, is the stripe under the front bumper. It highlights the aerodynamic features of the front spoiler, tracing the airflow to the hood and connecting the two, completing Ferrari's keystone design feature.

Hope you're not in the touch up detailing business ;)

In all seriousness, having seen the Pista up (very) close, sans stripe is a big no for me. The key reason is the front end airflow which is dramatic, and functional. The stripe serves to beautifully showcase this wonderful design.

Image Unavailable, Please Login What abut the new electric blue that Ferrari created for the 488 Spider launch? I think it has a different name now, but I remember Electric Blue from the launch.

I specced no stripe on Speciale and love it.My Pista will have a stripe because the front S duct design gets lost without it.
    All IMHO of course.
