I have been without my car, 456M 6 speed, for 6 months. Got it back last Tuesday and went for a drive. What a fantastic car to drive and work through the gears. Pure enjoyment.

On Sept 8 I was involved in a small accident.

The damage was minor but parts availability and deciding to essentially paint the car kept it in the shop until Dec 2.

The dash had shrunk, was showing fiberglass along the windshield and some interior parts were sticky. So off to the upholster. New leather was applied to the dash, rear deck and door panels. Everything else was refreshed and dyed to match. All of the sticky parts were refinished. This took until Mar 13.
Here is the result. Fresh paint, fresh interior, no sticky. 20 year old car, 70,000 miles. I am back on the road.

M interior is very elegant. Was that a specialty place or just an ordinary shop?

Damage shot made me cringe, but the restoration looks fantastic. Very elegant color for the M. Continue to enjoy it!

She looks great. Paint is probably better than it was from the factory.

    Thanks for the kind replies.

The body and paint was completed by a shop in Scottsdale that does general work but quite a few Ferrari's and other exotics. The same description for the interior shop. When my car arrived they were working on a DB9 and several Porsche's.

    Hi,

Mine's a "pre -M" just meaning it's a normal 456 GT, and 23 years old soon, no sticky surfaces, no shrunk leather, but I have all the (what 19-15 sq meters?!?) leather out the car fir cleaning and treating with Connolly Hide Food, and fixing the stereo and A/C issues, replacing driver's side door seal (pretty complicated, huh?) etc.

I too love the seats and the contrasted piping, must be a special order?

    And two questions:

    1. Is that a "Daytona" seat ina 456M GT? There is the center strip and the perforations that I don't think standard seat have?

    2. What is the black button on the front corner of the driver's seat? Mine does not have that and I had not noticed one like that on other cars before.

    Cheers,

    Pekka T.

I had an M with those seats and they are the Daytona seats. The piping was another option, and colored inserts were too (His doesn't have them).

Pretty elegant car very understated with that color and no shields. Glad the repair turned out so well.

As G. Pepper posted the seats are "Daytona" as delivered. The black button is the back lumbar adjiustment.

    Hi,

Thanks, now I know more. I have been happy with the standard seats on long drives. Only issues seem to ne related to the seat ECU instead of the potentiometer. But I hope to have it repaired soon.

    Cheers,

    Pekka T.
