Anybody been to Le Thai on Fremont lately? Please share opinion. Thanks keith
I am looking for a place to take my wife tonight, but she is not big on Thai food. We are looking for a casual date night type place. Preferably on the quiet side. Anyone have any suggestions?
I was thinking around Fremont Street maybe south to Sahara area. We are coming from the East side of town but we like to get out and try new places. DT Summerlin is ok as well. .
Downtown: Therapy or Triple George Grill DT Summerlin: Andiron Steak (really good) and Seafood or Grape Street Cafe and Wine Bar
Excellent, I will float those by the wife and let her chose. Thanks! We have not tried any of those yet.
Scott. I have had two evenings at Andiron and they were both very good experiences. I haven't been there since last April, so things can change in a year. Warm greeting, good service, good cooking. You'll probably need to book. Parking right along side the restaurant.
Tom. As Joker posted, the place got roasted by the NY Times and just about everybody hated it during first few months it opened. I detest everything about the Cromwell so I won't go in there, but I have heard from a couple people that Giada is fine (pricey for the product/atmosphere, though).
Funny thing.................that's what my wife said. We went to Andiron Friday night and it was really good, thanks for the tips. I had a Cowboy Ribeye and the wife the filet. Both were really good and properly prepared. Oh and I had the grilled octopus. I love it grilled although my wife likes deep fried better. Anyway we both enjoyed our meal and will return probably sooner than later. Then yesterday we were back at DT Summerlin doing some shopping so we had lunch at the Grapevine. We enjoyed that as well although it seemed like our food was a LONG time coming. We both enjoyed the food so it was worth the wait. Plus I got to see Tiger Woods finishing holes so that was nice as well.
Thanks, gents. We went on Sunday night. Showed up on time, still had to wait 5 - 10 minutes for our table. A pain in the neck, but not a tragedy. Watching a tipsy bachelorette party try to figure out the photo booth was free entertainment. I made the reservation through Open Table, and asked for and got a table with a view of the Bellagio Fountains. Not the greatest view, but a view nonetheless. Wife got a glass of prosecco, which she enjoyed much, and I got a Sicilian nero d'avola. Very good. For an appy, we shared, despite my dire warnings to the wife, arancini. It was good, but as I told the wife would be the case, it couldn't hold a candle to my grandma's. The arancini were small and fluffy, with peas and pancetta. Tasty. But, grandma would have been embarrassed to serve such a miniscule rice ball. For an entree, the wife had spaghetti, which she enjoyed very much. I had the pomodoro with Calabrian chilis. Spicy but not too spicy. Fortunately, a little crushed red pepper did the trick. Dessert was the highlight. Tiramisu cheese cake. Fabulous. The affogato-like espresso dessert was likewise excellent. Overall, we had a good time. Service was good. A tad slow, to my mind, but certainly attentive without being too intrusive. T
Random observations on our recent 2 day junket to Vegas, which was first time we've been in almost 2 years. Vegas was crowded, but the gambling halls not so much. We arrived Friday night, stayed at Paris, and walked around all the Caesars properties on both Saturday and Sunday. Same everywhere we went. Younger crowd, seemingly more interested in drinking, dining and clubbing than gambling? Gordon Ramsay is the reigning king of Vegas celebrity chefs. Every one of his joints was packed, with lines out the door in a few cases, regardless of the time. The garden at the Bellagio has to be the best Vegas freebie IMO. The current Asian theme, I'm guessing to coincide with the lunar New Year, was the best I can recall. Penn and Teller are awesome. They really do put on an entertaining show. T
^Gambling revenue has been pretty much on the steady upswing on the strip and downtown for years. March madness is coming. Then you will see things go nutty.
Thanks for posting Tom. You're right about the Arboretum at Bellagio. They do a Chinese (this is Year of the Dog) New Year theme every year and it is spectacular. At Christmas, my Mom spent about an hour there. An overlooked feature at Bellagio (not free but very reasonably priced) is the Fine Arts Gallery. Check it out next time. Has Paris refurbished their rooms? Way back when we were invited guests at its Grand Opening and that was a regular spot for about 4 years before we moved across the street. And I'll wager it's still the noisiest casino on the strip. The Cromwell is like the Cosmo...nobody gambles in there. God how I miss Bill's.
As the Mayor said, March madness will show you some enthusiastic gambling. We were there for Final Four weekend a couple of times in the past few years and it was a madhouse.
The first weekend of the tournament is always nuts. Every major sports book in the city will be packed with people jumping up and down screaming almost non-stop. It's such a fun time to be here...when you're not trapped at work.
Enough of this fancy smashy dining. What Las Vegas needs is a good bowl of Udon noodles. And, from the review I read today in the paper this place is just the ticket. mmmmm... Udon. http://cafesanuki.com/
No refurbishment of rooms in Paris that I know of. Wife was commenting how tired they looked It's noisy, especially on Saturday night, when their club plays super loud music until about 3 am. But, if you want a Strip view, you have to deal with it. Been to the art museum at Bellagio. It's a bit hidden, but worth a few hours of looking around. T
I would have thought Vegas had a ton of good noodle/ramen houses. I did a Yelp search and came up with most of the top cheap eats places as ramen joints. T
"It's noisy, especially on Saturday night, when their club plays super loud music until about 3 am. But, if you want a Strip view, you have to deal with it." - Tom C. Tom, what you heard was the ridiculous outdoor pool / club at The Cromwell: Drais. They allow DJs to play LOUD, sometimes til 4:00 am. I know it's Las Vegas but really! I hate the Cromwell (everybody does).
You've just blown my mind! It was way too loud for this old man. Even in Lost Wages, I like to get to sleep before 3 a.m.! T
