    Is that cover even accurate?......"Group B showdown that never happened"
    I've never heard of Lamborghini ever intending to participate in Group B rally back then.
    The literature of the day always pitted the GTO against Porsche's 959.

    Yes.

    They are referring to the fact that both these cars were FIA Homologated for Group B, but nothing ever came of it.

    Meanwhile in fact, the 288 GTO was FIA Homologation number B-273, and the Countach Downdraft was FIA Homologation number B-291.

    Neither car participated in any rally, hence the title.

    Yes indeed, very understandable, they were invited to look at the car and they approached cautiously and were very careful, they knew it was a really special car, besides, one nice thing about the GTO is that it has a composite materials body, so you don't have to worry about dents!
