jeeez guys....you have got to get this under control and make sure proper pressure are going into the wheelguns for proper torque on the wheelnuts. Once they get to Bahrain, they should be first out on pitlane doing mock trial pit stops. Haas suggests a lack of pitstop practice before the #AustralianGP contributed to its problems during the #F1 season opener per Autosport.
Screwed up wheel changes should be the easiest thing to fix, much easier than bad engine, bad aero, crap drivers, so I think Haas are still in good shape.
Gunther Steiner: “We need to keep our heads up. We know we have a good year in front of us, we need just to analyse what happened and how can we make it that it doesn't happen again. We go to Bahrain with our heads high.” Autosport.
So Haas did well. But do not forget last year where they qualified 6th (!) in the first race. This year looks promising but I fear they will end up the same as in 2017. No real budget for development will cause them to slip away from now on.

You can blame the mechanic (and for sure there is some fault there) but you have to also blame the training AND the team manager who ignored the crew and let BOTH cars go anyway when the mechanics were saying "NO" (or trying to say No). That, to me, was the ultimate sin. Fool me once, shame on you Fool me twice, shame on ME
Yes and NO Something is wrong in their training and expertise. I think it's deeper than one wheel nut. What appears now as a bad wheel nut may reappear again as something completely different. There is another factor here as well. And its about professionality and crew experience. Clearly Haas has little. Its one thing to make them practice and another to put the pressure on them when racing in 4th and 5th place. Its called choking. Experienced teams know how to deal with it. Maybe Haas is still on that learning curve. If they are, then still more problems could pop up
MARCH 27, 2018 Haas will not fire mechanics after blunders Gunther Steiner says Haas will line up with the same set of mechanics next weekend in Bahrain. Although it looked like technical glitches, the American team's boss confirmed that it was simple finger trouble that meant Kevin Magnussen and Romain Grosjean retired within minutes following bungled pitstops in Australia. "Why should we keep complaining?" Steiner told Blick newspaper. "Those responsible know they were to blame -- the wheel guns, the nuts and the hubs are the same as in 2017," he added. "No one will be fired. Maybe the pressure of the two most important pitstops since our entry in 2016 was simply too great. Now we have to work harder with the same crew. "The car is very good, which is why we can go with optimism to Bahrain and everywhere else," Steiner added. Grosjean confirmed: "The only consolation is that I've never had such a good car in formula one."

jgonzalesm6 I read that article and was interested in how Steiner made it sound normal to move folks around on the pit stop team. He also said they added an extra person that can over-rule the green light from each wheel team, so I hope that doesn't cause more issues.
They just need practice practice practice..for hours...even throw a monkey wrench every now and then to fowl things up and see how they react. They did not do this(practice) in AusGP.
Haas happy with current drivers says Steiner APRIL 19, 2018 Haas boss Gunther Steiner has given a strong indication that Kevin Magnussen will stay in 2019. Many pundits believe the Dane has the upper hand over Romain Grosjean this year. Magnussen's fixed contract runs out in 2018, but the American team Haas has an option to extend it for another season. "We do not comment on the status of contracts," team boss Steiner told BT newspaper. "That applies whether it's a driver or a partner. "Having said that, we are very happy with both of our drivers. We are continuing to focus on this season and scoring as many points as possible."
I like the job KMag is doing this year, seems to really have his nose to the grindstone. Also like his no BS attitude. Would be happy to see him stay. Grosjean on the other hand, I’m growing weary of. He’s way too inconsistent, and way too whiny when things are not going well. I’d love to see a talented young American like Santino Ferrucci, Josef Newgarden, or maybe even Alexander Rossi have a crack at a Haas seat. Ferrucci seems to have the inside track, and I’d guess will get a shot eventually.
While it would be nice if there was an American driver in F1, it's not critical for the success of the HAAS team to have one.
Nice to see both cars making it to Q3. I sense a trend line that is very positive...while other mid-pack teams...McLaren, Renault, Force India and Williams...seem to be racing for last place. Are last years dogs are working harder? Here is hoping Sauber, Torro Rosso, and Haas keep their momentum into the race.
We must have watched different qualifying... Haas has some momentum...STR and Sauber do not. McLaren is hardly racing for last place...both of their cars out qualified the STRs and Saubers. We can agree on William’s performance.
