Looking good Scott! Moving along...
I had black in my old Testarossa, I did consider it as it’s very easy to do but actually I like the original 80s retro look of the brown/ tan
Looking good Scott. What final finish are you using on the connalising? I used a mixture of gloss and matt but top tip, make sure its warm when you do the final finish, it can come out 'spotty' else. Just finished my 400 colour change. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Good question, yesterday I sprayed it with a satin finish. However this morning since drying overnight I’ve compared it with the new original dash I’ve just acquired and the finish should be a matt. I then saw it in sunlight and in fact it looks like a semi matt with just a hint of shine. I had ordered matt finish this morning to redo it but just rang and changed to the semi matt that they also supply. The 400 looks superb, well done on a great job
Started improving behind the dash with a coat of black before putting anything goes back in. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
you have a time scedule when you want to be finished scott? so that you may drive daily? with so much to do I think you would be very happy for every step you come closer to the finish, but also think it is not possible to have a scedule because always this and that may go other than you expect. I know this from my competition. always more because to make it right good luck
Well I’m actually ‘hoping’ to have it back on the road for the odd fun trip this summer. Just to be able to drive it and enjoy a few days out. But it will by no means be finished then, it’s an ongoing project but to have it useable in between will make the build more fun. Also I keep changing the level at which this car is complete. Originally it was just going to be really scruffy everywhere. Then I started tidying and painting parts up and currently I’m at a stage where the car will be all goid underneath but externally look ‘rat’
The main thing though with the ‘Ratarossa’ project is that I’m really enjoying it and having much fun building it.
Im trying to figure out the correct way the front hood release cable routes from the release pull handle (by the side of drivers seat) through the small tube in dash the the lock under the hood. Anyone know where the cable should sit between these two points ? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Final bits arrived to finish off the dash and reinstall GPS aerial arrived for the 6112 Image Unavailable, Please Login
Semi-Matt finish to hopefully get all the bits I sprayed last week closer to original finish Image Unavailable, Please Login
Scott, that sensor you asked about in earlier post, is the temperature sensor goes behind the square louver fitting behind the speaker photo above.
Refinished the dash parts again with the 'Semi Matt' and very happy with the results, looks great against the original panel. Started to kit out and prepare the dash to go back in the car. Had to make the radio slot in the dash just slightly wider to allow for the 6112 to fit. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Figuring out the radio wiring next and how to hook it all up. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Still building up the repair on the centre console before respraying, I wasn't happy with the finish first time around Image Unavailable, Please Login
Again same with the 'seat belt panel' in the console. I had filed the holes, covered it and sprayed it but the finish was naff so have stripped it started to sanded it again and will redo it Image Unavailable, Please Login
Placed the dash in the car as a test to see what it looked like. I'm now in two minds to repair the small damage to the new dash or not ????? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Wiring figured out, new loom connector installed and all labelled up ready Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
