She was a car enthusiast. Escort XR3i, RS Turbo, Sierra Cosworth, Jaguar XJS and XJ12, Mercedes SL500. 348 would have suited her.
Hi guys, I'm in the process of scanning all my old negs and slides...My collection of UK events and UK Ferraris goes back to about 1983/1984 so should be interesting. Lots of Oulton Park, Mallory Park, Brockett Hall, Maranello Concessionaires, London, etc etc...
Ok, i'll start with a few of my favourites....I know the first one is on track, but still a worthy and interesting car...2 different shots of two of it's old colours......the 250 GT Lusso s/n 5521 GT Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Goodwood AC meet back in early 80's, approx 1985, 365 GTS/Spyder s/n 15841. When i took the photos of this, it had only done 11,000 miles. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
From the same Goodwood meet, 246 Dino GT s/n 03526 with plate 'LYX 117K' Image Unavailable, Please Login
Paul. These are great photos and very interesting too. Hopefully you will be able to share lots of them with us. Are the ones of 5521 both at the same event as the others? Robert
The shot of it in the light green is at Mallory Park. The dark colour shot i can't remember the track..i'm sure it will come to me
I really need to get scanning as i have hundreds, but a few more for now, A few from Brockett Hall, i'm thinking '87. We got there late after breaking down twice in our Daimler Double Six (relay trouble)...had to spend the night sleeping in the car in the Jaguar Dealer just off the roundabout from Brockett Hall, and ended up getting towed home back to Maidstone....so the photos were a bit thin on the ground and my camera was damp. Interestingly, the 250 GTE 'MSU 358' i can't seem to find anything about, apart from the fact it was last taxed in 1988 Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
And my camera was damp. What a great line! That should have been the least of your worries after a night in the car but I would have been gutted too if I had not been able to take photos! I turned up to an FOC National Meet once with the body to my SLR but no lens! I dashed to the nearest corner shop and purchased a disposable camera. The worst pictures of Ferraris I have ever taken! I am still trying to photograph the cars I saw that day that I have rubbish pictures of. This is now a very long but fascinating thread and there is no reason for you to have gone all the way through it. The Daytonas and the 250 GT 2+2 could be from an earlier Brocket Hall event but I think that the 250 GT SWB California is 3021GT and has been discussed earlier in the thread. I think that is Brandon Wang and so this would be from 1990. Robert
Paul. The shot in the wet did not give much away and could have been many places. The one with the ploughed field right up to the edge of the track looks like Goodwood but...
Thanks for the replies. I did trawl through a lot of the threads and saw a few familiar events. Hard to date them sometimes. I think i did 3 Brockett Hall events in all, so 1990 is possible....onto scanning
Respect! If you are going too spend the night in a car, you could do a lot worse than a Daimler 66 - I like your style!
It all seems funny now but at the time i was livid. We ordered a part for overnight delivery, which upon fitting the car started fine and off we went...only to break down again at Potters Bar, hence the tow home back to Maidstone, and i was supposed to be going for a meal that night too. All good memories. It wasn't the first time we spent the night in a car just to stay at an event. We did some funny things to get into Ferrari events....committed i guess as youngsters...a far cry from the awful little sods about these days.....anyway, i digress Syon Park, i think '89 or '90. Lovely little event. Lamborghini organised i believe. Some nice Ferraris and of course the little brother from another Mother...the Fiat Dino Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes there were some awesome cars there. I think i went to 2 meets at Syon. I would post photos of all the cars there but it doesn't really tie in with the thread....unless it is requested of course
Please do post all the photos....especially if you have the row of RHD Miura SVs - I think there were 4 of the 7 RHD Miura SVs. have never seen a decent photo of them! These photos are amazing. Thank you. Keep them coming. Do you know the identity of the 275 GTB 4GPB?
There you go Robert, a few pics from the Muira line up. Don't know the identity of the 275. The same reg has been on a BMW and a Ford, so not sure what happened to the 275. An unusual Daytona to say the least. This was at Modena car Sales some years ago. Apparently it was a cut Berlinetta. It also has an auto box and cruise control fitted for the elderly gent that owned it.
This GTE is #2889 and was owned then by Stuart Anderson. He had bought it, I think, in Arizona in 1988. I sold it to Canada on his behalf in 1993.
