Wipers aside, it looks like it was restored to this iteration. I saw it in person and it looked great. Matt

Timmmmmmy: Absolutely wonderful. Your dollar numbers are right in the "ballpark" as are your observations about people. These cars are so difficult to restore, especially the race cars, that by their very nature, led hard lives. Even with the internet, getting good period photos of every last detail is still next to impossible.
I think we should buy some glasses for the judges, probably too old, or maybe even they recieved $ $ to go to ballpark (baseball) in the front row.
In the case of P cars, there are many photos that can be used to restore a car and avoid gross mistakes like the front of this one.
You all may be missing an important point. In America, many major concours use what we call "French" rules. The judges pick the car they "like". Originality is not a major factor. Design, appearance, and importance are the major considerations. As a participant in many of these events, I love this approach. Without having to worry about incompetent judges, the owners can relax and enjoy the day as they know nothing they can do will effect the outcome of the judging. I am not sure about Amelia Island, but "French" rules are common over here.
If the cars selected for the elegance competition are to be references, it is nevertheless the selection of the Jury since it brings by its experience and its knowledge the consecration of these automobiles as references of authenticity. Each automobile will be judged in its smallest detail on several criteria that have been developed by this Jury, and which is based in particular on the criteria usually used in the greatest competitions of elegance. In fact, today the main objective of an elegance competition has been somewhat different from its origins since the cars presented are no longer contemporary automobiles, but historical pieces that testify to the richness of our heritage Automobile. Thus, the criteria observed not the Jury will turn to the authenticity, the preservation in the state and the existence of elements of epoch still present or, if that has been the case, the quality and the rigour of its restoration. In addition, the Jury will review criteria that fall within the elegance of lines, the influence on the fashion of an era or its influence on the automobile, or the performance or any innovative quality that these automobiles brought to Their time.
