I guess we wait for the new Corvette and the Camaro since all the other toys have been broken. I drove my 720s on Saturday a balmy 58 degrees and could not believe the amount of camera phones that came out on the highway. This thing is the real deal. Thanks again McLaren. Enjoying all 800 hp at the crank. Its sooo fast that I need a facelift... GTJOEY1314
The corvette might , it will be interesting ......Its amazing how that car from Florida hasn't blown up with all those runs. I drove all day Saturday and just kept hitting the gears, the car just eats it up. Bullet proof with leather heated seats. gtjoey1314
I LIKE IT......Its easy to drive but geared to a YOUNGER driver. It takes awhile to get used to ALL the electronics but they all serve a purpose once you get in the zone. GTJOEY1314
I did for awhile then learned not to drink cold water an hour before the drive.....you know the vibration and shaking around makes for early pit stops... Don't turn 50 its a killer..... GTJOEY1314
What you are seeing is the effects of aero efficiency. The Demon is a brick. Those McLaren headlights that ppl love to hate, work quite well at creating speed. The 720s just builds and builds and doesnt let up.
Is there something im missing in this thread? Where is the demon race? I cannot imagine 720 beating a prepped demon on the strip. its got too many tricks up ts sleeve with skinny fronts, hi octane chip, trans brake, etc. Maybe a street or roll race w demon driver who doesn't know how to use the tricks.
I'm guessing he's talking about heads up racing where it's first to cross the finish line. The Demon has a quicker ET at around 9.6 and the McLaren 9.9. The only way the McLaren would win is in a heads up race where the Demon driver has a horrible reaction time (RT) making the overall time worse (RT + ET).
No Demon in the real world is going to pull 9’s. Now with 103 octane, one seat, prepped radials, perfect temp/track. Sure. But the 720S can run sub 10s at 145 without any prep/compromise and with tire warmers and 100 octane can run 9.7 at 148 as we’ve seen actual proof of.
Jo stop making sense, its killing me....... The Hellcat, Demon are all great cars for what aged American car guys like. Youth goes to Japanese and the rest go European. For the money they are great cars IF THATS what you like, but you cant compare any of these to the 720s. So far the p1 , 918 maybe another , the rest are just a different league.
interesting comment about Jap cars. I love my NSX (drove it a lot today) and the new Lexus LC500 is beautiful. Japanese car manufactures are doing well at the moment in my opinion.
Who cares ? No one is cross shopping them. May as well test the 720 and Hellcat against a Defender on some dunes.
I drove mine 150 miles today it is just a thrill each and every time. I would be done with most cars by now but not this one, every time I get behind the wheel it is a joy.
