    Its a new venue, it's no longer possible to hold the event in front of Old Parliament house - the National Capital Authority has banned all automotive displays from areas under their control ( Parliamentary triangle and Lake Burley Griffin foreshore

    Horse is referring to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Act 2005. I should of said "Why don't the car clubs just set up tents, seems to work for the Aboriginals of Australia".

    Yep, the "Tent Embassy" is still allowed to be there.
    National Capital Authority's offical reason is that "parking cars compresses the soil and adamages tree roots". BS, as the cars park on concrete or lawn and don't park under the tree canopies anyway (typically extent of the tree roots). Also we are talking 6 hours of car parking, once per year.

    Yes, sad that the event has had to move.
    As I said earlier, the problem in the National Capital Authority, a statutory body that reports directly to Federal Parliament. The ACT government has no control over them and has been very helpful in trying to find alternative venues for Auto Italia and other car displays that have used that venue for he past 20 years.
