I'm sure you don't care, but you seemed to be under the misapprehension that it's cheap.

348 was the first of the BLOODY EXPENSIVE TO MAINTAIN V8 Ferraris.

308/328 are cheap as chips to keep in perfect mechanical condition

If it costs the same to maintain a Porsche as it does a Ferrari, I’m amazed they sell any.

Zagame does fixed price major at $3.5k inc GST.
That includes belts, pulleys, spark plugs, all filters, engine and gearbox oil, top up of other fluids if required.
At $190 per hour discounted rate for older Ferraris, this must be one of the most expensive ways to do a major.
I jump to no conclusions here, but you boys feel free.

    Interesting reading gents

Would love a F430 down the line, so it's handy reading experiences (and debates) regarding the cost of maintenance of some of the older ferraris!

can't see 430 being significantly cheaper than 360 to maintain. No timing belts, but F1 system, e-diff, headers, and that timing chain does not live forever regardless of what people think!

I remember a few years ago there was a place in the UK that had fixed price servicing. Every service for a 360 cost more than a 355 service apart from the belt change, and there was only about £200 in it, from memory, and remember that's only every 5 years or so.

My first service bill on the 360 around 6 years ago was almost 12K due to deferred maintanence which I had factored into the purchase price back then.......

$3.5k for a belt change on a 360 that does not require an engine out is an insane rip off and is not the norm. That is how much I paid for a belt service AND a clutch change inc parts (except the clutch).

So what do Zagame charge for the same service on a F355? $5-6k inc GST?

190 per hour, min 16 hour job plus parts. Labour alone is already at $3040. Plus rip off retail parts prices. Meh main dealers.

How many hours do they claim for all that?

Other than the belt and pulleys, [why would u need to change the pulley] the other stuff is a no brainer

I know. Just something you have to factor in if not already done, like the 360 and replacing its **** bushes with properly made ones and HE ball joints. Do it properly the first time.

No need for me to play “show and tell your invoice.”
It was for a normal engine out, with no nasty surprises. Given it was the first one under my watch and I’d been led to expect $5k+ I was quite happy with less than $4400. :)

Valve guides were only an issue on the early cars, and even so would surely have been done by now.

I said that before, will repeat again. Zagame is VERY competitive on parts' prices, I've all but stopped buying stuff from overseas as Zag is pretty much the same price but no shipping charges, and GST is already included in the price (all overseas purchases will be subject to GST from July). If Sydney dealer is different, you guys are getting shafted for no good reason.

Are you aware of any, say, ‘97 onwards cars that had the bronze guides?

I know there are stories about odd cars here and there having them even after the change (as though Ferrari had some lying around and thought they might as well use them).

sorry, not pulleys, bearings. should've had my morning coffee prior to posting on fchat :D
as for the hours - don't know, don't really care since it's fixed price. I have a sneaking suspicion that if I went to MM I'd end up paying more for the same job. Mark's hourly rate is $180 ex GST from memory...
