New generation NSX or 430 Scud ?

Go for it David, then you will have a matching set ! I think the Scud would be too rough around town. Wasn't that an issue on your P2 Pbug ?

 

Daily driver: NSX, latest version of the current trend of refined sports car. All the latish technology. Unfortunately, IMHO, tech like that does not age well. Do you want a 10 year old top of the line CD player? How will those battery systems work in 5 years and how comparable will they be to the current market offering?

Scud: Raw, exciting and an event to drive every time. Last of a breed---probably will be even more exciting 10 years from now than it is today because it will be an an increasingly rare driving experience. There is nothing on the Scud that won't age well in my view. Great simple interior, no screens, and very clean exterior lines.

 

How is this a question? Scuderia all day long. Get a 10 year old 7 series if Scud is too much daily (it's fine).

Scud, NO DOUBT! I had a Scud and now I bought a 458. To be honest, the 458 can never exc ite me the way the Scud was able to... And the 458 is a way better car, than the NSX

And I don't need to talk about the depretiation, do I?

The Scud is also a very reliable car and as far as excitement goes, newer cars are not even close!

 

Another issue to consider is servicing. Most any decent sized town will have an Acura dealership. If you dont have a Ferrari dealership in your area, do you have an indi mechanic that can service a scud reliably?

A year ago I sold my 430 (moved to an 2017 R8) mainly because the closest dealership is some 200kms away from my location. I also found the snootiness of dealing with Ferrari of Quebec a bit too much to take. Just a thought.

 

IMO Japanese cars in the 90s till mid 2000s where fantastic. So I'm not anti-Japanese cars...I think the new NSX looks fantastic but at a price point it competes with a 911 GT3, so a complete no brainer to me...GT3 any day. And a 2nd hand Scud...if the NSX was 90 grand or so new then it would be a different story.

 

I too would take the 2nd gen NSX, only to sell it, to get a Mondial t or a 412 manual and pocket the difference.

if weekend then scud.

Or get a GT3!

Daily, weekend, racetrack, and dinner setup as a salad bar (rear wing).

Similar to what I said regarding the LaFerrari: Give me one and I'd sell it and buy a 599 manual, 430 manual, and an F50.

 

I agree my friend, regarding the original question:
I think both cars (NSX/Scud) are great on the surface, I think I would have to drive both for a while to really give a qualified answer. From my armchair, seems like the NSX is more livable and better for day to day, scud is better for the weekend car. (exactly what many here have said)

 

Still got the Pbug.
Still rides like a buckboard.
Incredible with two people on board the ride smoothes out.
Theoretically the Scud in normal mode drives fairly smooth. At least that's the story. Never been there.

Still... gotta look for the next toy.

If it came to a choice between any competitively priced GT3 and the new NSX I'd choose the NSX in a heartbeat.
I have a 996GT2. Cool car and very unique. A GT3 on steroids. But the new NSX is from another planet. But still...a Scuderia...wow.

 

There are so many cars I'd choose before the NSX. Some of them cost less, too.

 

I owned a Scud for 5 years and it was an amazing car. Never had one problem with it. Regular annual fluid changes and that's it.
I also owned the original NSX and loved that car. As solid and easy to drive as a Honda. In its day it looked like a Ferrari and drove better.
New NSX .....not feeling the love.
So the answer is: find a 1 or 2 owner well maintained Scud with all service records and you'll be a happy camper.

These threads are about choosing which car to buy....I’ve never seen one where someone is being given a choice of gifts lol. Of course then the highest value will always be the winner.

 

This. If you already have a GT2 go with the NSX.

I found regular 360 too difficult to daily. Scud I feel would be worse.

As an event car scud wins. But I need a daily hence why I went NSX. Its also faster i believe

 

Interesting. I find the 360 to be a fine DD. I drive it three to five days a week. But it's right on the edge, and the Scud would be too much for a casual drive across town to buy cigars.

 

Depends on your commute too. Harsh flat roads bumper to bumper. NSX in quiet mode is perfect for this.

Also NSX isnt as low as you think. My 997 turbo scrapes more than the NSX

 

Based on purchase, would go for scud personally. My response has more to do with your comment on the Mondial; an apt comaparison would be Gen 1 NSX vs the 't'. I've had both, so I think I'm qualified to say, at least to me, I enjoy the 't' more then the gen 1 NSX 00' variant.
