930 Turbo Carrera

I was wondering if anyone knew the best route for acquiring a 1975 RHD Turbo 3.0.

Just finding it impossible to find anyone here in the UK. Serious buyer, happy to set some records and push the market for these beauties up a bit (within reason of course). Thanks !!

 

Maybe try a request on the impactbumper forum in the U.K.? There are a number of the '75's in the U.K. known to some of the members on that forum.

Any idea what it is worth and is it of any interest to anyone ?

Just finished Ryan’s book on the 3L turbo. The level of detail is incredible as is the quality of the photographs.

Learned from reading that Light Yellow was used for only 52 turbos; always thought that light yellow was more common than that. Fun fact - Dress Mackenzie interior / Light Yellow exterior combo was ordered just once during the 3L turbo production run. J

Hi all
I am from South Africa.
Just fulfilled a childhood dream and bought a 930.
The car is very rough and had a flatnose conversion.
Currently busy having the mechanicals sorted out.
The chassis no is 9306700186.
I will probably buy Ryans book soon but would appreciate if someone could help me with the original build specs of the vehicle.

The car was originally Minerva blue but unfortunately changed to gold recently.
I am in 2 minds on whether to go back to original and change to red.
Wonder how many where made in the blue for the 3 year period?

Hi Kevin welcome. Per the Bible Vin 9306700186 states the following; paint code 304 Minerva, interior code 66 black, destination C08 (japan) (LHD), 11/75 production date, Options: 409 black headliner and 559 A/C. As an owner of a minerva 930 I’m biased but i think it’s one of the most beautiful shades of porsche blue. At total of 94 minerva blue cars were produced in the 3 year run (worldwide). The original color will always bring a premium, especially when it’s a rarer color such as minerva. Good luck

Thanks for the info...really appreciate the assistance. Interesting that the car went to Japan...and somehow made its way to SA in 1983. Part of the fun in buying an old car is digging up its history...

Quesion regarding the external radio antenna.

I am in discussion with a few experts about the original antenna location on my 1975.

One respected Porsche expert claims that ALL 930 came with the antenna on the right side (passenger side for LHD cars).
It is a fact that a period picture of a 930 with the antenna on the driver's side is very difficult to find.

Ryan's book reports the following:

 

Also the following picture is in Ryan's book with explicit mention to a manual antenna on the driver's side.

I have checked the 930 1975-77 PET and there is mention to a manual antenna (with different code) in addition to the automatic antenna.
Below a copy.

My car was found by me before restoration with a manual antenna on the driver's side and I kept it this way ... was it a correct choice?

Page 497 of Ryan's book has a list of Turbo Z-requests and there’s only one 1975 Turbo w/ 269 (Manual Antenna). That’s not to say yours is not original (and missed on the Z requests) but you should be able to verify by checking to see if there’s a passenger side hole for the electric antenna that was welded/filled-in.

 

Was the antenna black or chrome?
