Very futuristic looking for its time! The small rear windows are really vents and flip out. Quite a sight to behold.
Richard Hammond drove a black one in season 2 of Grand Tour..Lovely wreck of a car! great for its time though.. A joke came up in that show...You know why Brits drink warm beer, Because Lucas makes refrigerators...
Hi, But so does my Lusso! The MKX's (and 420G) are still strangely unloved, except by a few aficionados, like we have seen here on fchat. It is a great car, but I guess their ideas and the expectations of the general public finally met when the XJ6 came out, 50 years ago. It was quite a success, only hurt by the emerging strikes and the poor management under British Leyland. (I have owned an early 1975 XJ6C now for over 11 years) Cheers! (PS- I can post pics later when I get home)
While the XJ6 was one of Sir William Lyons' greatest achievements, I am a great fan of the Mk.10 and it would be on my shopping list if I didn't already have my Bentley. It was the last of the old-world Jaguar flagship saloons, aimed firmly at the upper echelon of society / captains of industry (let's not forget that the XJ6 replaced the entire saloon range - Mk. 2, S-type / 420 and Mk.10 - so had to be more of a compromise), and it is a joy to behold inside and out. Looking forward to seeing the photos - XJC is a lovely machine.
