Do you know the chassis/engine number? See here how to locate the numbers: http://www.330gt.com/serial_numbers.htm

Also do you know anything about the internal condition or when it was run last?

the gearbox is with overdrive. does a 330 had overdrive?
I think it is a late 250 GT/E engine, same as I have ( 4911 ), but the water outlet from the block looks different to mine and my fan has only 3 blades. so a 330 engine?
please post the engine number, marcel massini showed you where to find

    Condolences on your loss.

To the owner of the car it belongs in, it would be worth a lot. Do you have any of the parts that have been taken off it? That would also add value. You'd be surprised how much these are worth.

Post the motor number. That will answer many questions.
To the right buyer, the motor/trans/OD is worth a considerable sum. Don't sell it for the first offer. You might be surprised of it's value.
My condolences on the passing of your father.

There has been nothing since the first post. There is the very real possibility that he did sell it for the first offer. There would have been lots of PMs even without a number. Perhaps even more because there was no number! Lots of us want to know the number of this engine to know where it belongs. Lots of people do not care: they just want an original engine and number to put into whatever they have created. We will possibly never know the number but we can sleep well in the knowledge that it will probably win at Goodwood next year in a car that does not yet even exist. Happy days!

Here are details of the car which was in France in 2009 with a Datsun V6 engine and transmission: http://330gt.com/Detail/5705.html

Out of interest please could you tell us when and how your father came by the engine/gearbox and what he intended to do with it? Would just like to know if possible how and why 5705GT lost its drive train.

I am very pleased to see that I was wrong! Let's hope that the car and engine can be reunited and that we hear the story of how they were separated in the first place.

I don't know how he got the engine. He planned to put it in another car, Studebaker I think, but it never happened.
