    No I'm keeping that one.

This one is a 98 GTS F1 Red on black.

Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login The saga continues. Apparently the dealer reputation and Florida on top of it fits !

Dealer assures flywheel is good and got resurfaced and just replaces the clutch disk. No ppi can tell, right ?!! Who will be the wiser ?

Now clutch disk trashed and whole thing will be at my expense despite dealer opening the pumpkin and neglecting to fix the parts correctly at the time.

Clutch disk only touching 50% of flywheel.

I don't think I've ever seen clutch wear like that before... Is the pressure plate warped?

Probably. I didn't ask since I'm putting in a new one. It's disappointing that people cut so many corners to make a buck these days. Whatever, I'll have a totally refurbished system after this. It's just a sad commentary on society.

    Skipp - 2 checks:

    1) Be sure the tensioner brackets are pivoting and not seized (ask me how I know)

    2) Check it was set properly.

Do both before you take it apart

Replacing all that with the Hill Engenering parts.
The bracket in question was not moving as it should. Mind you, this job was done 2k miles ago. Pretty pathetic for such a critical part !

    Dave,
I misspoke. I meant to say the “pawl” wasn’t doing it’s job....I think.
    I’ll verify what you mentioned.

    Thanks for the insight

This picture should clear it up - the bracket the tensioner bearing mounts to needs to pivot freely about this pivot point which has a bushing.

Image Unavailable, Please Login Thanks Dave. I now understand and believe that area was fine. My mechanic was pointing out the area in the photo that I drew a red arrow wasn’t moving ???

He was inserting a screwdriver in the little gap to check for “play” and that side wasn’t giving any play.
