    Hello Ludovic,
I'm also in France and I'm looking for restoring my climate system on my Mexico which probably the same system on the Indy. It's working with a York 206R compressor. Can you tell me the process or the parts replaced ? I know that for american people, it's an easy job... but in France, it's very hard to find a company able to work correctly on these old systems.

    Hello all,

as i have some time, i will show the work done on the car !
First photo was, when i bought the car in Paris (3 years ago) (France) it was staying in a garage for 18 years
On other picture you could see the rust in the water pump, and on the cylinderhead, note the original leather in bad condition and the incorrect clock !

    Very interesting.
The condition of your rotted water pump and of your dry/rusted camshafts certainly indicated that the whole engine was blocked and required a full rebuild.
Could you tell more about the crankshaft: is it the original one?

My own 4900 was also stored on a lift in a garage for 27 years. But fortunately, the engine was in very good order and restarted immediately.
If you are interested I have started a thread about its restoration on maseratitude.com , a french Maserati forum (also speaking english):
    http://www.maseratitude.com/public_html/viewtopic.php?f=56&t=5656

Here are one pic of the car and two pics of the engine bay (when I purchased it on last October and of one head when opened)

    Hi froggie :

    We put inside a 4.9 crankshaft .... but don't tell it, it's a secret ! ;)
The crankshaft is a new condition (no under size)

    Froggie,

Hi like your post on maseratitude.....Great Job for a great car !

For synthetic oil, you should go to synthetic oil, only if your engine is redone !!!!

    Ludovic

Thank you for the advice on oil, I'll take care of it.
Yes, engines of that period are probably less resistant to wear than modern engines, but fortunately these old Masers are not anymore used as daily's today!
My odometer indicates 23.000 kms, could be 123.000 (or ...223.000 as well) but, if so, the engine was then probably already rebuilt as compressions are all very good

Fortunately, the plastic insulators around the wires still look OK.
What is that piece of trim?

Vi Vlasic, interesting thread here, I Will follow it.
I have a Indy 4900 from 72, and I allways had some cooling problems. So last Winter, I removed the original aircon compressor and water pump and replaced it with an electric water pump. Yes, I know, its not original - but it works fine. Lot of water flow at low rpm.

    hello guys,

here's a little topic, how to remade the indy dashboard switch, with the MIE new chrome plastic.

I do not have take pics when dismantle it, as it is quite easy ....

You will need a 3 millimeter (bronze tube), i find it in a model shop. and 10 minutes for a switch.
