Similar performance, but the Lotus was the ultimate iteration of a 20 year old design (I think the V8 was a backward step), and although the 360 was only 5 or so years later, it was from a clean sheet of paper and is still considered a modern car. The Lotus is a classic. I think the 360 will be easier to live with (get a manual).
have never driven a manual 360 or Been lucky enough to drive a lotus but I would try both manual and F1 trans 360 at Full chat on a country rd if you get the chance ,I'm not shure if id want to take any hand off the steering wheel of a 360 on a B road post 6000 rpm I'm no expert but its hairy on the thick end of that Tacho.
I’ve line up a drive in a F1 360 next week. I’m sure it’ll be more comfortable than the Esprit for starters.
Good for you s4simon my wife and I picked ours up from Melbourne 9 hours drive from Sydney, very comfortable and the F1 easy, make shure you go through gears especially listen to 3rd and 4th,the PPI check done in Melbourne didn't pick up worn syncros in these gears not the end of the world but eventually will need done, sounds like your running over a manhole cover when you change gear, and when the cars cold just stick your finger in the coolant reservoir (black box back of engine bay)make shure no slime present (heat exchanger fail coolant mix with trans oil)if it has failed and been fixed it can leave residue for months Check paperwork if job done ,it can knacker the trans .but if you already know all this cool and good luck
Yes, still have much to learn. It's a friends 360, which he's had for a while so will take some advice from him. And will most probably buy from the Eastern states, as that's where most are, get it PPI'd, and drive back to SA. I currently drive the Esprit every week and will hopefully do the same with the 360 as life is too short.
Lotus did very well in the TARGA this year, 3rd out right and all 9 yeas 9 cars finished https://mailchi.mp/simplysportscars.com/lotus-wins-at-targa-tasmania-2018?e=4f28feecc8 This is the latest results I could find http://www.rallyresults.com.au/targa/tt2018/leaders.pdf Surprise for me was the tank that won
Ignoring the rifraf comments. The factory supported one, good to know they care unlike a certain Italian brand https://www.thelotusforums.com/forums/
Lamborghini survived as a result and continue to make magnificent cars. Same for Bentley, new Continental GT is an amazing car, beautiful interiors, mind boggling performance, 900nm of torque
As Geely own Lotus, Volvo and 10 percent stake in Mercedes-Benz the new Esprit announced yesterday my thinking is it will use a Mercedes engine with Volvo tech, not unlike the new Astons who use Mercedes engines
"LOL, lotus, a NOTHING brand now and forever, owned by Chinese now...lol" Seriously, Nintendo64? Lotus started in F-1 long after Ferrari, yet they (Lotus) were the 1st team to get to 50 GP wins. I think that when Colin Chapman died in December, 1982 Lotus still had more GP wins than Maranello, but I'm trying to verify that. BTW: Lotus completely revolutionized the Indy 500, which Ferrari has never won.
