I love mine! However, I have no idea how to "blip" the throttle on downshift...didn't know you could. I have driven it enough that I know where it fits smoothly at the right rpms.

355's have very nice throttle response. Single mass flywheel conversions also will add to quicker throttle blipping. We just finished a conversion on a customers car. Some kits may supply the single-mass setup with a puck-style clutch, we decided to use an OE style full disc. No chatter, silent engagement, smooth idling, quicker revving etc - made the whole car just feel sportier, plus no re-packing maintenance. Really pleased with the product

    Joshua,
I just saw I never responded to you.
The technique is to blip the throttle while simultaneously pulling the downshift paddle. You'll find this to work just like a manual, stick shift car. It's a feature unique to the F1 cars that can't be done with the DSC cars. With a little practice, you'll get it.

doesn't the f1 automatically blip the throttle on its own ?

It does not. This leads to what some would call sluggish downshifts. If you do the blip yourself, it's a great shift and more involving.

I have one and can tell you that they definitely don't. Which makes it more fun to do it yourself.

On drive by wire cars, yes it does. But not on the 355. I don't have sluggish down shifts. I also really need to make a video as when I'm coming to a stop and I sequentially down shift to first, it's much different than letting the car auto downshift (as it will do).

Sluggish is probably not the right word. Rather, slower than DSC.

The 355 F1 does not blip on downshifts. Later models do this, however (post 430, I think). Of course, almost every modern car, even those with manual transmissions have this feature.

Vince, I can't say for sure about a 360 F1 but a 430 F1 does automatically rev match (blip) on downshifts.

to my understanding while researching the different version 360 TCU's, the early versions 1999-2001 do not rev match..
then in 2002, apparently there was a big update in the TCU software, that managed for rev matching.
then the TCU on the Challenge Stradale was the best tuned to date etc..
lastly even the latest 360's had another software update from the CS..

so although many 360 owners look to get their hands on the CS TCU, the latest regular 360's had the final and best update even over the CS..

    I rented a 355 and I definitely heard it blip,not a brap but a blip , not a big blip , just a little blip,but definitely a blip.In fact I seem to remember a great thread a long time ago about blips.

Yes, there was a pretty EPIC thread about this. When you down shift, you hear what sounds like a blip. From my memory - don;t have time to search for the thread now, I believe Brian Crall said it has something to do with an air valve that gives a bit of a pulse. I'm paraphrasing and don't really recall the details. I'll dig it up later.

    Two pedals - Two feet.

Why over complicate things by using one foot for both pedals at the same time?

    pretty cool....

I was at an FCA event yesterday to view the Spanish GP..

ive been in the clubs for 4 years now.. and know all the regulars.. but yesterday I noticed someone showed up with a Silver F355 F1 spider.. that I hadn't seen before
I located the owner and started chatting about the car etc.. and how he liked the F1 transmission etc.. as it may be the second time ive ever seen an F1 around..

I asked him if he ever or knew to blip the throttle.. and he said no, didn't know it could be done..

so I asked if he didn't mind to go for a ride around the block when he was ready to leave.. since I had never been in an F1 car.. and would like to feel the shifts..

he drove.. and for the little trip around the block.. up to only 3rd gear.. I thought it felt/shifted very nice..

and then as we were coming back around.. he attempted several throttle blips on downshift.. and it worked perfect..

it was a pretty fun/amazing moment.. cause we were both smiling/excited as he was getting in those blips on downshift..

he had the car for only 1 year now.. so it was fun to have showed him something new offering a whole new dimension/involvement driving the car.. he was definitely excited..!

makes me want an F1 car now..!

Thanks for sharing this experience. It truly is great once you learn that this is possible. Keep spreading the word. It will bring much more enjoyment to anyone who owns or desires the F1.

Besides sounding cool, doesn't it help the clutch last longer?

No idea, but everything is much smoother. So, probably.
