Bringing 2 turkeys. One for the party and one to bring home.
OK, look's like the original Ketel is making it down this time (with a lot of help from Yelcab). I have an idle pulley issue that we are addressing this week so the trusty (or not so trusty) Ketelmobile can make the drive without drama. Right now the idle pulley is squealing like a stuck pig but parts arrived recently so Yelcab and I are going to turn some wrenches after work a night this week and swap it out. Since us NorCal folks clearly have better food and wine than you SoCal luddites, let me know what I can bring. ketel
We would not want you to have a second pass at the Ketel award. Your name being carved once on the Ketel is enough for a life time, I think.
So far I have 3 turkeys to fry. Anyone else? Oh yeah, and who wants to work on their car? What would we be doing?
Bruce I am sure that whatever you do or whoever you bring it will be right ; and the important thing is that you are going to have fun and bring a lot of fun to everyone else who is there. Enjoy the day.
I may bring my DD Mercedes to work on if that's allowed. Having throttle issues and just haven't had the time to give it a serious look over.
Sheez! Then I'm going to make Ketel change the oil in my kid's BMW while I BBQ the chicken wings. Glad to hear Ketel and Yelcab will be in attendance. If we aren't working on too many cars I guess we will be breaking out the wax.
I plan to try to make it with the 355. I’ve recently been dropping down to 4 cylinders while getting slow down lights so maybe we can trouble shoot that. PM address and what we might be lacking for food or beverages.
The Missus has requested a head count, so can all who have planned to come please let me know: Vince Bruce Carl FBB Mitchell Jonathan Ketel Jeff F Goth? Tim Larry T Derek Roth? Luke Maz? Tom and Gail? Peter Chad Chad C? Seth Armin? Eric 348? Vaz Rockit? Any OC or SWD ppl coming? I have some other non-FChat ppl coming too. I'll read the thread and see if I missed anyone. Otherwise please add your name.
Man I wish I could make it. One of these days I need to get out there and meet you guys. Funny. I just had this conversation with my wife. I tore my car apart the past two winters. Shop did the engine out one winter and I fixed all the ancillary stuff. The next winter was fixing all the crap they messed up on the engine out and the transaxle boots. This winter all I had to do was wax the damn thing. Nov - May...never happened. I hate waxing cars. Have fun out there.
I'll be doing A/C (unless it all leaks out immediately). My car could use a bath, but if there isn't time for detailing, I'd rather help someone wrench. I'll bring dessert, whether it is an extravagant cheesecake or box of ho-ho's will depend on the rest of the week. I will bring a fruit or veggie side as well. Finally, is it an automatic ketel award if someone shows up with their wheels on backwards? (asking for a friend)
OK, since you are a former Ketel winner making you a certified Stooge, I have to ask: When you say the wheels are on backwards, which end of the car is in front? Is it the sharp end or the blunt end? I've known stooges who believe the engine is always in front. Which end is the noise coming from? Is it front wheel drive with steering in the rear? How many gears does it have in "forward"?
Front engine / FWD. I heard this setup is good for fuel economy. Same layout as a Prius. Plus, my buddy Ferris told me driving in that direction is a good way to keep my odometer low
I’m struggling to find a single trouble to work on. The 355 is too reliable. Last week temperature fell below 70*. Took it out for a rough beating. Pegged 9000 RPM in second gear up and down Palos Verdes Blvd. Did a few donuts in the intersection of Hawthorne and Palos Verdes Dr. Then burn rubber in front of two police cruisers but no trouble whatsoever. Beside a CL that comes on when cold and off when hot, it’s bullet proof. I could bring the Rover and work on the faulty backup camera but I don’t want to get into a slippery slope or start a gateway drug type trend. Next thing you know, folks gonna be working on their less reliable Porsche, Mercedes and who knows what snap crackle and pop sport car at a StoogeFest.
