Hi All Re my well documented issues (on other threads) with an intermittent failure to select gears on my car, we have managed to work out that a solenoid has failed on the F1 pump. (EV1 on the attached pic) Rather than replacing the pump, we are looking to just replace the solenoid. Does anyone know where I could get one, or does anyone have one lying around they’d be willing to sell to me? Thanks for any help. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Are the diagnostics saying the valve electrical circuit is open? Is it possible to dismantle these things? Any manufacturer's names? Magneti Marelli? Hydraulik-Ring? Would you have a clearer shot of the numbers on it? Is it a plunger type... or rotary valve?
Not sure about any of those questions sorry Ian. I’ve got this running in the Oz section at the moment too with what the dealer seems to have found re part no. It’s in the spotters thread. Cheers!
You might check with this outfit: http://www.sequparts.com/product/ppv-solenoid-valve-ferrari-f1/. I've never used them but the advertise F1 solenoids for the 355 as well as a few other F1 components. Sent from my SM-G900V using FerrariChat.com mobile app
I was pretty surprised when I came across that website a few months back. Seems they have solenoids and accumulator bulbs but they don't have the correct 355 F1 pump motor. They do advertise a pump motor which looks similar to ours but the shaft and electrical connector would need modification. Sent from my SM-G900V using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Understood, thanks for the clarification Dave. Sent from my SM-G900V using FerrariChat.com mobile app
I've been emailing with them: "One addition to my previous mail: I am not 100% sure if our solenoids are the same as in the 355. The Ferrari 355 has a completely different F1 system than used in all other Ferrari models. Before buying, please provide me photos or the printed model numbers of your solenoid valves." So, not yet sure if these will work on a 355.
Looking at the photos Steve posted and what's on there website, at a minimum, the spools look different as does the orientation of the electrical connector..
Uh oh, sorry for sending you on a wild goose chase Dave. Sent from my SM-G900V using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Yes unfortunately I’ve now heard back and they are not correct for the 355F1. The hunt continues. Thanks anyway!
Correct. Seems to be a common problem with parts websites and It is frustrating how often this happens.
It may be frustrating but you need to understand that these individual components are typically not sold separately so we have some folks trying to offer solutions and in doing so it takes time to learn what parts will work with various systems.
There was a thread on this site about a year or so ago about a guy (in Seattle?) that was going through this. He had one solenoid where the shaft actually snapped. I can't find it right now, but I know he went down this path already and the details are here somewhere.

Thinking aloud... It seems to be just an electromagnetically operated spring-loaded plunger. Is there some kind of threaded collar keeping the components in place? So... Coil burnt out? Probably not fixable. Spring broken? Electrical plug pins need re-soldering? Numbers on the old valve (transferred from the Australian Spotters Forum):
The failure is most certainly the coil / electrical. I would think that could be fixed / retrofitted..
