I have a 2004 Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale engine that I purchased for display, but I thought I might post it here (and eBay) as an opportunity for one particular CS owner out there to make their car numbers matching.

This engine suffered a cam variator failure and was replaced under warranty. The cam failure destroyed at least two pistons and many valves on one side of the engine. The bank 2 cylinder head casting may be irreparably damaged, and there could be more damage I have not noticed.

Engine number F131F #83784. Probably factory installed in car with VIN ZFFDU57A340137670.

    Asking $12k

Just a note that the price includes crating. Freight shipping is probably about $300 to a commercial address.

Or local pickup near Philadelphia, PA.

How did you pry that out of Algar's hands?

Sorry, I thought I responded earlier. I bought the engine from a local Ferrari owner that must have a connection with Algar. He actually had it on eBay years ago and I got a bit of a local cash discount.

I had some spare Autochecks and found out the car is registered in Alpharetta, GA. Anyone here? I have a couple cars in my collection that I would love to have the numbers matching engine for, so I don't feel like too much of a jerk trying to track him down!

I can think of 3 users here who might be able to help track down the owner:

    - Mike Law
    - Stokpro
    - Carbon (what the heck is his user name these days)

All three have lots of records on CS owners...they might just know the car you are looking for. I'd PM them...

Thanks, arizona. I already emailed Mike through his website when I started to investigate the engine. I'll ask if he knows any more info.

Every time I see the engine I want to tear it down and take a closer look inside. It already needs a rebuild, so as long as I don't lose anything it can't hurt! I'd like to see the extent of the damage. Seems like the CS-specific parts are the intake, heads, and pistons.

Just a note - I put the short block on eBay. Obviously still needing repair. Accepting best offer.

Exactly same on all late model 360's apart from the small square of Carbon in center. Early models have a squared off intake cover, later models are contoured to improve airflow, it was an entirely new casting to prevent leanout conditions at high rpm to back of engine cylinders.
