We might have to get you banned again

Are you sure you're an Aussie ?

Death by firearms can be stopped now if common sense prevails, the rest of your kill list are non-sensical FFS

Since you like to correct other people's spelling and grammar, perhaps you should at least make sure you use proper grammar yourself.

If my child were killed at a school that has mede little to no attempt to harden itself against attack, I'd be pretty pissed. Note that the Wikipedia list of "unsuccessful school attacks" shows that nearly half had assembled bombs and/or incendiary devices. These are already illegal (a federal offense, actually), and demonstrate my point; it's not the methods that are the real issue, it's the number of kids willing and desirous to plan out mass murder, and then execute said plan. How many kids in Australia are arrested with bombs or incendiary devices under their beds? How many kids in Australia are arrested for plotting to blow up or burn down their school (for the purpose of murdering as many as possible)? If firearm availability were the real difference between the US and Australia, these sort of arrests would be just as prevalent (if not more so) in Australia, but they're not. Why?

    It's a serious question.

If the government--made up of people--has no chance of going bad, why did Australia have to ban and confiscate so many firearms from its citizenry--made up of people--in order to ensure the safety of its people?

As for the headache, I have that because a rather distracted fellow in a semi slammed into the back of my car some 10 years ago.

If, by "common sense," you mean blaming the weapon a homicidal maniac uses instead of the maniac himself, then no, you won't.

Gang activity in Australia seems pretty infrequent, even in the larger cities. In 2011 it was estimated that there were 33,000 gangs in the U.S., and around 1.5-million gang members, and it is estimated that the larger part of murders in the U.S. are the result of gang activity.

    EASY.............................................................

YOU AND YOU SORT/WAY OF THINKING ................................................

    ARE ONE SICK PUPPY.

AND YOU DIDN'T ANSWER MY QUESTION WITH A DIRECT ANSWER.

WHAT IF IT WAS YOUR CHILD,FROM YOUR WIFE'S LOINS,THAT WAS KILLED 2 DAYS AGO?

No "if it were.....etc" WHAT IF YOUR CHILD WAS DIRECTLY KILLED BY SOMEONE WITH A GUN AT THEIR SCHOOL ,forget about f^=kin' bombs,incendiaries,knives,hammers,chainsaws,chisels,skewers,f&ckin'motorcars/bikes/lawnmowers/snowski's/wasps/bees/spiders/crocodiles (you may have a case for those where I am),fu^kin' arrows, tigerbites, hippopotamus strikes, blueringed octopus,seasnake...................etc.

WHAT IF SOMEONE CAME INTO YOUR KIDS SCHOOL WITH A BUNCH OF FIREARMS,(IRRESPECTIVE WHERE THEY CAME FROM) AND KILLED YOUR CHILD.

I'd be pretty pissed at the person who did it, and at the school that ensures there is no one there capable of taking on the maniac. The one thing I wouldn't be mad at, is the firearm.

I'm not mad at guardrail that killed my 17 year old student and friend, I'm mad at the people who knowingly manufactured a guardrail they knew had a high likelihood and incidence of spearing the car.

I'm not mad at the car my friend used to commit suicide, I'm mad at my friend for abusing his antidepressant medication and for not going to the doctor about his suicidal urges. I'm also mad he committed suicide with his daughter in the next room.

I'm not mad at the Golden Gate Bridge for my wife's friend's suicide, I'm mad that the young lady decided to throw herself off it.

I'm not mad at all the guns the thugs used to rob my father's business, I'm mad at the thugs who utilized them.

I'm not mad at the semi that slammed into my car, injuring both myself and my father, and causing both of us a lifetime of severe headaches, vomiting, etc. You probably won't believe this, but I am mad at the guy who was supposedly "driving" said semi, and the fact the he wasn't paying any attention to what was going on around him.

I'm not mad at the knife the guy pulled on me way back in Capital Heights, MD, but I am mad at the guy for pulling it.

I'm not mad at the fist the guy used when he punched my father, nor am I mad at the steroids the guy was on... guess what? I'm mad at the guy!

Now, if you find blaming the person instead of the inanimate object, "sick," I don't know what to tell you. You do seem to have anger issues, an inability to understand what statements are directed at you, along with an inability to understand the difference between an object and a person, so maybe a psychiatrist might be of service?

Then why don't we concentrate on removing the violent element from our society instead of concentrating on removing weapons from law abiding citizens?

Why don't we (that would be 'you', of course, given that we've already done it) do that and make it less easy to kill each other...

Last I checked it wasn't law abiding citizens who were killing each other. The larger part of murders are gang related. Mass murders can be easily committed with all manner of items available at the drugstore, hardware store, or Home Depot. Finally, I know of no other tool that can make a 5' 100lb woman equal to the task of defending herself against a 6'6" 250lb rapist.

There are more than 300-million legally owned firearms in this country, yet these aren't the people shooting each other. Criminals, drug users and dealers, robbers, rapists, thieves, these people are most responsible for murders. Remove the weapons and you'll still have a violent crime problem, remove the criminal and you all but eliminate the so-called "gun" problem.

    this is a dumb thread

nobody is going to change anyone's mind

Americans think we're dumb for handing in the guns and living peacefully with our kids going to school without the threat of guns killing them while they're learning

We KNOW they're dumb because of the gun culture

Gang bangers are killing each other .... good !!

Kids are taking readily available guns to school and are shooting other people's kids ............... that is NOT the norm in the rest of the world

About half of the US gun deaths are suicides.

10% of gun homicides are gang related, but 95% of gang related deaths are caused by guns. An almost equal number of deaths by gun are domestic squabbles gone really wrong, and some of those homicides are cops that get killed coming to the door to break up a domestic.

60% of gun murders are committed by people without a felony conviction for at least ten years. So, it's not just felons killing with guns.

It's a mish mash, but it's not gangs that are skewing the data.

You know, I'd be willing to bet that, just as with kids killed by an accident involving a firearm, an awful lot of that 60% occur within circles of people were a number of them are known felons.

And the "domestic squabbles" are almost always NOT the result of a single argument turning violent, but instead the culmination of many, many violent acts toward the person who was finally murdered.

I also wonder... if a gang member in Chicago murders a woman after raping her, what are the odds they report that as a "gang related crime"?

With the rationale you keep displaying it is seriously no wonder your country is in the situation it finds itself.
