As a former 328 owner I purchased a 1992 348 TS Red/Black Last Summer. Truthfully it wasn't my first pick but it was in my price range and I'm back in the Ferrari Club. I read all the haters who say how ugly it is, how hideous the wheels are, how outdated the strakes look, how goofy the louvers are on the tail lights, how lackluster the performance is, how stiff the steering is, how it doesn't sound as good as a 355... and on and on and on and on. But I will tell you I am enjoying this car 10 times more than my 328 and it is in another Stratosphere as far as Speed and Performance in my opinion and I will tell you I've gotten more compliments and oohs and aahs in one year owning the 348 than I did over the 10 years that I owned the 328. Specifically the air conditioning is ice cold 42 degrees at the vent. I live in Florida and my wife always asks me to turn the air temp UP cuz she's cold...something that never, ever happened in the 328! And I performed so many mods on my 328 only to squeeze a few degrees extra but it was still like Grandma's warm breath. Don't get me wrong the 328 is awesome looks awesome and is probably the best built most reliable and recognizable Ferrari ever. Anyway I bought my 348 cheap, sorted a few things out and now she is darn near Concourse perfect and I absolutely love it. Now I'll sit back and see what all the haters have to say....but this car is awesome!

Now you know truth, which often comes as a result of owning a good example.

    Enjoy! :)

Spot on. I’ve never had ONE person come up to me and say “ewwww, why a 348?!!”. Most people are just excited to see the car and want to take a picture with it. Forget the rest of ‘em.

I will say this - do I think the 348 is classically gorgeous the way say, my 575 is? I think the 550/575 is the most beautiful f car since the 275 long hood, so nope...but so what?!!! The 348 looks COOL! It looks properly exotic, and exotic cars aren’t always necessarily “gorgeous”, though I have had many a person describe my 348 that way. An A10 warthog isn’t gorgeous but I’d love to have one :)

Same... Worst I've had is a few people mistake it for a TR... Which, when you think about it, is that really the worst thing? Haha!

I'd put it more in the 'classically masculine' vein of the Daytona and 512BB.

Where are you located? One of these days I'd like to have a "348 Only" get together. I'm on the Space Coast.

I wonder how many we can bring together.

BTW, next year the 348 will be 30 years old.

I think of the 348 as the last of the classic looks, the 355 as the start of transition classic to modern. Whichever turns you on (classic in my case).

    I am a big fan of 348, I own a Tb for 10 years.

The only thing I do not like is the fact that the 348 was considered the cheapest Ferrari and that many cars were bought by people who do not care about the proper maintenance.
So now, most of the time, the 348 are not in perfect condition and the owners have to take care of a lot of details (electrical, etc ...).
The 1980-90 Fiat electric parts are very bad, so if you're not careful from the start it becomes a horror ....

Glad you love your 348. I feel the same way. But you're preaching to the choir here; the 348 needs no defense in this subforum. I suggest spreading your word in the general forum, and on BaT. That way, these cars become less of a secret.

Holy Moly, I was in FL last year and I visited Stuart. Great little beach town north of Miami, had lunch at Shrimpers. Drove north to downtown, then walked west around the point, under the bridge to the marina. Small world.

POLO35, we love our 348s for the same reason. I wanted a V8 that has all of the traditional Ferrari feel. That meant nothing later than a 348. But I wanted usable A/C and a decent driving position. The 308 GT4 offers the latter, but nothing earlier than the 348 offers the former without serious mods. I'd still love to own a carbed 308 or a GT4, but the extra performance and the fantastic oiling system used in the 348 have me quite convinced that there is no better V8 Ferrari for me.

Glad you're enjoying yours. I can't think of a better all around choice for someone who loves Ferraris and values the *real* sports car experience.
