Bill you need to take up a sport like barbecuing and drinking.......It gives you a different outlook on life.....The biggest stress will be that the Homo cooking gets your steak rare.......In other words it's the same as getting a life....
Okay, let's step back and think this through... A 14 year old, we'll call him Sam, decides he wants to murder as many as his fellow students as he can. Access to a firearm will make this easier, but it isn't the firearm that made Sam decide to kill his fellow students, nor, if he is successful, is it the firearm that is the causative factor in the massacre. The causative factor is--Sam. Now, if Sam is willing to spend four or six weeks building bombs and gathering equipment (some form of body armor seems to be a common item), why would he stop just because he can't get a gun? The answer is, as you have demonstrated, he won't. Instead, he--being the causative factor--will go to the next lethal item he can find. And since we've already established that bombs are a common item in these maniac's bag of tricks (in both the US and Australia), that's likely what he will use. So while it is a good and necessary to do what is reasonable to keep firearms out of the hands of 14 year old psychotics, it doesn't follow that it is reasonable to also keep them out of the hands of people of legal age and good psychological condition. I've carried a firearm for years, and owned one for many more--I haven't even ever drawn it on someone, let alone fired it at anyone. There are over 65 million handguns in the US, and at least 15 million people with carry permits (more than that actually carry as some states do not require permits), yet guns are only fired at a "bad guy" (by a citizen) a few hundred times a year. Most other defensive uses require only that the person demonstrate they are armed, and the perpetrator breaks off his attack. As I've said before, if you have the unalienable right to life and liberty, you must have the unalienable right to defend them, and if such be the case, then it is only logical that you also have the unalienable right to the tools necessary for that defense.

Yes, having firearms in a society presents a risk, but that risk is actually quite minimal. As we've both stated, criminal on criminal violence is really of no concern, and thus those numbers shouldn't really be included in any statistic. Unfortunately, you can stab someone from the other side of the street, so to speak. The average person can cross 21 feet and stab you in less than one second. That's why cops so often shoot people brandishing knives when there seems to be considerable distance between them. And not everyone can run away. My wife has MS, she can't even walk very far, much less run. Given a guy jacked up on some drug, and I'm no match, either in outrunning him, or in overpowering him. And you are correct, you cannot build a bomb without premeditation, but since this conversation was primarily about the mass murders occurring at schools in the US, and since we've already demonstrated that these are almost always premeditated--usually in weeks or even months--the bomb is still a prime weapon for such people.
I live a pretty stress free life. Little debt, nice little house in the country, wonderful wife, couple of nice cars, reasonably good health (if you don't count the damned headaches), and I have a lot of fun. Can't think of a day I've felt stressed or worried in quite a while, actually.
Funny story... I once read an article about two drunk idiots who decided to have a "showdown" out in the street--shotguns at twenty paces. Yes, shotguns. They fired something like ten shots between them, with no injuries. They did get some nice time in jail, however.
this conversation is not primarily about mass murders....that's just one aspect You're a lost cause. You can't see sense because you don't want to see sense and you've brainwashed yourself into believing everything you write. Your assertion about the knife is so ridiculous. Why? Because with a gun you have NO CHANCE of getting away, with a knife/baseball bat or whatever else, you have a chance. To ignore that obvious difference reflects poorly on you. Imagine all the road rage shootings. People go mental with that road rage. Here we have stories of people being hit in the face, being dragged out of the car and bashed. That's it. If there were guns in the glovebox, surely you don't imagine the end result would be the same, do you? I'm not going to let you get me banned again, but you know what I think you are, right?
Yknow what I think..................................................... America needs to be full of Wes's No killing,no wounding, just a lot of noise.
The full quote is: Do not be deluded by your own good fortune. As with auto accidents and fires, violence is an unwelcome guest that can visit any of us at any time. Vigilance truly is the price of freedom; vigilance, the foresight to be prepared, and a willingness to act. And what is so horrid about that?
It is obvious you have never fired a gun, if you had, you would know why cops seem to fire so many rounds without--you know--hitting anything. And do you really believe the average person to be so homicidal they will snap and kill each other? Road rage incidents where someone is even injured are rare occurrences, even here where there are lots of guns. They happened fairly often in LA for a while, but they usually weren't businessmen in suits suddenly going nuts. And as for banning guns, who is more likely to turn them in, law abiding citizens or criminals? And I didn't get you banned.
There is a huge difference between being prepared for some sort of disaster, etc, and going seriously overboard. Keeping a "go-bag" is a good idea, keeping fifty years worth of food in some underground bunker is--well--I wouldn't advise it.
Far out man.... You think a go bag is necessary? OK... That might say more about where you live than you, but I'm not sure.
AAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 Show him the scoresheet Peter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
On average, when told to evacuate for any emergency, you have less than five minutes to get ready and go. Within a 20 mile radius of me, there are nuclear power plants, nuclear materials storage, coal burning power plants, and myriad railroad lines. Just a year or so ago a large portion of a nearby town was evacuated after a railroad derailment. Boy Scouts (or whatever they're called now) motto, "Be prepared."
Doesn't sound like it Bill.....You are totally paranoid about everything and nothing that will ever happen in reality......Even your picture gives it away never mind the BS you have written under your posts......In Australia we call you guys rednecks....We get them here in QLD as well but they don't have guns.....They just drink cheap bad beer like xxxx......
No, I am reasonably prepared. I don't worry about fire, but I keep smoke detectors in all the rooms of my home, and have fire extinguishers in my bedroom, living room (fireplace), kitchen, and all my cars. I don't worry about disease, but I get my flu shot every year. And if you think I'm a redneck--LMAO! As for my avatar, the quote is Patrick Henry, the striped flag is that of The Sons of Liberty, and the Jolly Roger (Calico Jack's) is my own little fun. And again I ask, what is so "BS" about admitting that the smelly stuff that comes from the north end of a southbound bull sometimes hits the air circulation device? Did you know that every year in the US, people die whilst sitting upright in their beds, listening to their smoke detectors going off? Do you know why? Because in a panic situation you almost always do exactly what you have planned to do. And if you've planned nothing, when your brain goes into panic mode, you will frequently do just that, nothing. So my quote is all about thinking these sort of potential situations through. You do that once in a while and you're less likely to be a victim, much less caught unawares.
F$%K,I can't read any more of this bloke's dirty toilet water...I'm off to checkout the Ferrari's for sale on Gumtree...
