Just wondering if the more (ahem) 'mature' AU members here might cast their mind back to what parts / components (if any) were sourced and fitted locally to Australian delivered Ferrari's in the 1970's and 1980's when the local car industry protection was at its height?

Was there anything that the Australian Ferrari importer (Lowe's or subsequently Maranello Concessionaires Australia) used to provide that wasn't fitted to the cars ex-works? For example, was a locally produced battery fitted to the cars here?

The only item I could think of immediately was the car audio unit (radio or radio cassette, equaliser), as that was always dealer order and fitment regardless.

I wonder why he calls himself QV308?? There isn't any proof that he has one. I've heard about it, but no one's seen it.

Surely he needs to learn to punctuate before asking for advice.

Who was the OEM battery supplier to Ferrari back then. Was it always FIAMM ?

FIAMM supplied the batteries (and air-horns) for Ferraris in the late 1970's. I think the cooling fans are also FIAMM; but it's that long since I've seen my car that I can't remember for sure.

The only things the dealers fitted in 1978 were the drivers side chrome door mirror (Fiat 124) and the radio (Blaupunkt) - if it was optioned. The electric aerial was factory fitted to the car as I recall.

I'd heard this from a US QV owner but wasn't sure if it was true. Was your car delivered with a Delco battery?

Wonder if it was this type Ferrari used - the Delco Remy 'Freedom Battery'

Yes, delivered with AC Delco battery, but I can't remember if it had "Freedom Battery" on it.

It lasted about 10 years though!
