Hi Guys, The pic below is how the kit came with the car. Looks like I'm missing two screwdrivers. Any suggested resources for those (which aren't insane)? I thought $500 screwdrivers were only bought by the department of defense . Thanks! Image Unavailable, Please Login
It depends on which car it is intended for...carbed? Injection two valve? Injection four valve? And the year, too... Anyway...news are bad for your wallet I'm afraid: for a complete information, look at Piezzo's thread from two/three years ago, unofficial tool roll specification: a LOT of information into that one. But from what I can see, the tool roll you have is a hotch-potch of different period tools: the screwdrivers look to be for a carbed car, so does the carburettor adjustment tool...BUT in that case, the pliers are of the wrong type (= late QV / 328) so is the spark plug tool (for a carbed car, it should be a different model). Can't see the brand of the wrenches, but looking at the shape of their heads, you might have two different brands here; could you indicate what's written on the handle of the wrenches, on each side? or display the whole series and take a pic form each side? The roll itself looks to come from a late two valve injected car, or an early four valve (QV). Happy to contribute further if needed. Rgds
All right. Then...I have two news for you: one good, one bad; your glass is either half full, or half empty. Sorry for what will follow... The left half of your tool roll, that is screwdrivers and wrenches, up to and including the carb tool, are for a carbed car. Neither the screwdrivers nor the wrenches are correct for a '85 QV, and the carb tool is useless. Your screwdrivers should be of the "deep red Brown" translucent handle type, with or without the "Ferrari" white inscription on the handle if the car is a '85 QV. Wrenches should be "Chrom Vanadium Kravm" / "Ferrari" on the handle, or "Utema", even perhaps some of the last "Polytools", which usually go with the "two-valve injected" cars. But unfortunately "Everest" are mostly for carbed cars, or some of the first "Two valve injected" cars. The roll itself, the pliers and the spark plug tool are correct, if the spark plug tool is a 21mm one (inside the crown) for 14mm plugs, not the smaller 18mm for 12mm plug of the 3,2 litre engine. You are missing the "T-Handle" type emergency window crank. 25 pages of very good reading here: make up you mind before taking any action. https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/unofficial-308-tool-kit-specifications.505898/ Bad news is that you will have to search for, and pay, the missing tools; good news is that those you have are not useless and worth something, and/or can be swapped. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Ian, I think I know what you’re missing aside from a screwdriver. You’re missing the manual “T” window crank, ext to the pliers, here’s what mine looks like, 84 QV US.
The one I have is I think the correct one for the QV, see pics. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Not exactly. Read Piezo's thread. Polytools wrenches are typical of the "two valve injected" cars, and some of the early QVs. '85 QVs tool rolls usually have Utema or Kravm wrenches. Your screwdrivers are also of an earlier type, and you are missing the emergency window crank. Rgds
No, that tool roll would not be standard for a 1985 QV. The one showed above by Mike would. Yours has "V2000" screwdrivers, which are not period-correct, Polytools wrenches that are typixal of the "2 valve injected" tool rolls, or early QVs, and is missing the emergency window crank. Mike's is a good typical standard example for a late QV. Rgds
My screwdrivers say 'V10000'. Is this toolkit the same as used for the BBi? I thought is was. Many thanks.
Well, I'm certainly not an expert on BBi tool rolls, but I though their tool rolls came with a leather pouch (to put the tool roll inside)? Certainly, I have seen some with it. As for 308 (and 328) tool rolls: The "V10000" screwdrivers were not used for 308/328 tool rolls, and all 308 (= carbed, two-valve injected and QVs) tool rolls must have an emergency window crank (of which there were two types: the "T" shaped one illustrated by Mike above is typical for the late QVs, so is absolutely correct). As said in my previous posts about wrenches: "Everest" wrenches are typical of carbed cars tool rolls, although some of the earlier "Two valve Injected" tool rolls might be found with these from time to time. "Polytools" are typical of "two valve injected"; perhaps a small number of the very late carbed cars might have these; a number of the early QVs also. "Utema" and "Kravm" wrenches are typical of late QVs tool rolls. Those of Mike's tool roll looks to be "Utema" to me (?). Again, Mike's tool roll is very typical for a late built QV. Of course, we should "never say never", because from time to time at the factory, the "standard tool roll" of the period might have run out of stock, and someone might have grabbed whatever was available...
