Not so easy for some! Using verified VIN entry from dashboard and cross-referenced with service and recall card information: Option #1 yields error message that FNA does not recognize the VIN. Left many messages over several days at the contact listed - no response. Option #2 yields error message "The code captcha is required." No other info. Option #3 - no smart phone. Used your second option #1 above and they did not check when I told them I received a recall card directly from FNA. They took my name and said the recall isn't due yet as no bags are available to them for this car. Said FNA sent recall erroneously to all owners in all regions instead of following the rollout schedule. They have no idea why VIN not recognized. Others posted same unrecognizable VIN error in F12 thread. I posted my recall notice in that thread FYI. Thanks for posting the dash disassembly. For F12 was told some brackets and vent pieces needed to come out as well but not sure.
Spoke with Ferrari of N. America regarding my 2015 458 as to the recall of passenger airbag and was told my car will be on recall as are all 458's. Being a 15 notice will be around Jan. 2019. Asked regarding danger of waiting , response was no. Currently recalls as noted in a prior post are from the oldest 458's to lastly the newest. I have no knowledge of 430's or 488's.
THANKS for this thread...called local F dealer and they pick up my 2011 458 next weds for the campaign 60 air bag recall.
I called the dealer here in Las Vegas when I got the notice on my 2013 Spider. Dealer says they're currently only doing 2011s and will let me know when they get to the 2013s. Might be awhile. Weird...
Just to circle back on this - car is back today with recall done. We had some other service done while at Wide World such as a new windshield as my buddy had a stone hit and chip last summer. Charlie at Wide World handle this and all I can say is he is a stand up guy!
My 458 is at Maranello Egham as we speak it's a 2011 Italia. On the job sheet it is a 10 hour job at £185 an hour. Glad i am not paying.
Maybe they could but don't forget that the dealer is claiming the expense back from the Factory, and it was probable the factory set the time.
No way is it ten hours, just make sure the passenger side dash panel isn’t damaged on return as the pins sometimes stick and pull the leather....leaving an indentation.
My 2013 458 Coupe (19517X) is in for its annual service and they identified and will perform the airbag recall. I received no other notification prior to that.
So, anybody have any problems "post airbag" work. I just bought a 2011 458 and just found out it needs it. Is it both airbags, or just the passenger side? Rattles? Damage? Bad Karma? Anything?
I had mine done and no issues and it is just the passenger side. You should have no issues as the process is straight forward and the dealers have done hundreds of cars. You shouldn't have any issues at Ferrari of Atlanta to my knowledge (if that is where you are taking it).
Thanks, that's who it will be. I'll also have to figure out if it's had the ECU flash. It's a Jan 2011, so I'm pretty sure it didn't come with it. I'll look at the other threads, but do you know how to tell from driving it?
I couldn't tell you the differences in the ECU upgrade since mine is a 2013. I have heard that the pre-flash 458's have more "pops" and "burbles" than the "post-flash" cars. But I have no first hand experience. The only true way to know is for the dealer to tell you.
6 people have been killed by bits of the air bag exploding, thats the reason for the recall. so its up to you.
